The difference is noticeable much lower than that - probably around 450' around here.  Besides, 1.5" more than 3" is 50% more than expected.  I don't anyone who wouldn't take 50% more snow for free.  :P

Well congrats...better than I thought for the hill folk.

if you were at 1,000 feet how much do you reckon you would have had?

Probably similar to you. Maybe a tad more since that last band went apesh*t apparently. You and I had similar QPF because the trajectory was from your fanny to mine...umm I mean my house.

Man that looks like our upslope fluff...the type of snow you can still see the darkness of the ruler like an inch into the snow. Beautiful broom snow. I'd be curious on the liquid analysis with this one..

Has anyone run any snow cores?

I saw some cores on Twitter that were in .16-.25 range

What the hell happened around BDL?

WINDSOR 0.3 211 PM 12/10 HAM RADIO

ENFIELD 0.2 207 PM 12/10 HAM RADIO

WINDSOR LOCKS 0.1 100 PM 12/10 BDL AIRPORT

Elevation it appears. So you see..unless you were in good banding or above 600' or what not...this wasn't a big deal. That's what we were harping.

That sounds about right just by looking at that snow... 20:1 ratio type stuff with the snow surface almost looking clumpy from the big dendrites.

From King Weenie WeHa himself

Total snow in West Hartford 2.8" with a liquid equivalent of only 0.18"!

at least we have and had lots of activity. so props to you and others who called for an active gradient pattern. but before i violently pat u on the back, i have to scale it back (its my civil duty) lol by saying you shot down todays wave to James a few times a couple days ago. yes it wasnt a big deal but it occurred. probably better for a pro to not use words like "no" and "yes". let us weenies use those lol.

Well I did give props to James a few pages back...I always give props when they are due.

I  appreciate the nice compliments..but I don't need a backpat....I don't role like that. I just tell it how it looks to me and if I'm right, then great. If not, that's ok as well. This is the nature of the business.

This board is a great learning tool and you bet your azz that the combo of others like Ryan, Will, Phil, Tip etc are impossible to beat. Those guys are fantastic mets and I love being a part and talking weather with all of them.  Even you enthusiasts. You guys make it fun as well...although a couple of people sometimes make my hair turn a premature grey.

Yeah, it's certainly not 1000' here, but we still got a nice early winter snowfall.  You're right how it's like a totally different world sometimes between the hill towns and river valley!  It's not complicated... more is better.  :snowing:
