CoastalWx
Uncle appears on board. NAM sucks. I almost drove off the road when I saw all the posts about it. Eff that piece of junk.
jamesnichols1989
NCEP is slow tonight with the runs. I wonder if it might have to do with the shortwave over the northeast Pacific ocean. Who knows maybe or most likely its something else.
ctsnowstorm628
I'd hit it. 0.4" up here at 15F is cool with me.
Clinch Leatherwood
I almost drove off the road when I saw all the posts about it. Eff that piece of junk. Why is it still used? I mean is there a technical reason where in some situations (convection etc?) that it's useful. Damn it's awful most of the time. Quite a cold shot after this storm. ORH_wxman
One thing that sticks out on the GFS is how damned cold the sfc is...Ryan mentioned it earlier. But its kind of weird (and prob a flag) to see the sfc so cold on the GFS like that. When the GFS is sniffing out that type of cold, it usually means business. Its not your typical GFS sounding with -12C mid-level and -3 or -4C sfc.
jamesnichols1989
NAM was awful, although it marks a potential we have with this storm with that vortex over the Great Lakes on SUnday we warm up a ton from the surface to mid levels with southerly flow. Oh yeah...a track over the BM and it brings the sfc temp from like 13F at ORH to near 32F in like 6 hours.

It's going to have a December 20 2008 cstl front gradient. Might not be in the same spot, but teens inland, 30s coast on Sunday morning.

jamesnichols1989
I think someone west of Boston might see 12". However it appears 3-6" here on the coast before the changeover to rain Sunday morning. this stinks.
NorEastermass128
What's his thnking.Mostly snow right to Brookline. Early guess was 4-8". Maybe more. Less for SEMA.

jamesnichols1989
What did you expect? You'll do ok. Yeah I think the front end thump will be real healthy, especially with OES friday from southwesterly winds at the surface and -10C 850mb temps. The ocean is warm to my south.
