Well for me personally I enjoy getting out of work and actually having sunlight, so daylights savings is great. Not being able to enjoy sunlight 5 days a week during the winter kind of sucks to say the least.

This. How can anyone like sunsets at 4pm? That's so depressing. I'm ecstatic for DST this weekend. No more 4/5pm sunsets. So depressing when you get home from work and it's already dark out. Personally, I think we should just stay in EDT all year round, or just move our time zone to -4:00, so we wouldn't have to deal with dark evenings.

The point is that daylight saving time is pretty much a waste of time. It's going to be dark in the evenings regardless in the winter and sunsets are already at 6PM so how is it still dark. Personally I hate dark mornings and having to get up to go to work when it's pitch black outside.

The sun setting at 5pm instead of 4pm in December is so much better which is why EDT would be great all year round. I can say the same about winter mornings like you say with winter evenings. Falling back to EST in the fall is pointless because it's still going to be dark in the mornings regardless. If we were EST all year round, sun rise would be 4am in the summer, which is pointless. The general population wouldn't be up for the sun, there's no point in the sun being up when the majority of people are sleeping. And I disagree how it causes much confusion, I don't know anyone who has trouble with changing a clock an hour forward (and most do it automatically). The only people that would be confused are people outside the country in other time zones where they would have to convert according to whether DST is being observed or not, actually, they wouldn't even have to convert because when people look up times for places around the world DST is factored in thanks to technology, barely any confusion. But, I'd prefer if we had the east coast in GTM -4:00 year round (EDT). When looking at computer models which use UTC, instead of subtracting 5, we subtract 4, big deal. Most people I know look forward to EDT.

There are places that don't observe it and it can confuse if your traveling. Why can't everyone just have a stable time year round to make it that much easier. I think I even heard that we might lessen the amount of time zones we have.

Daylight Saving Time was supposed to reduce energy costs. That was basically the main reason why it was enacted and clearly it's been proven to have very little effect. It can stay in EDT time for everyone without it changing, I'm okay with that. There's nothing wrong with seeing more daylight later in the day.

Sunset is already at almost 6 pm. Don't disagree with more light being good for the psyche, but 10:30 start times are annoying for fireworks, drive-ins, and stargazing, lol.

Granted, those things are rarities in the winter, so you take what you can get.

never underestimate downsloping. remember when yanksfan was crowing about the euro showing temps below 50 for days?

Having the sun out instead of some cloud cover helps as well.  I think OKX was forecasting increasing clouds, yet it has been a mostly sunny day from what I see out my window.  Sun & downsloping FTW!
