Rjay
Heartbreaking loss to Canada.Wow! I hate to say it but with the USA up 2-0 with under 4 mins left, that's a choke job. The US even hit the post with the net empty and just over a minute left in the game. Unreal. What a game though! The US team outplayed the Canadian team throughout most of the game.Following the game was the coldest handshakes I've ever seen in hockey between 2 teams that has a genuine dislike for one another. IsentropicLift
Yanksfan is anti-met........think he thinks he's better than them.....why? Anti-met? I'm anti-weather channel. They have fallen far from what they used to be. On air TV mets I never take too seriously. Why would I listen to what they have to say when I can view exactly what they are looking at from the palm of my hand? You can get a much better forecast simply from reading this forum rather than watching the 10:00 news. The on air mets cater to the general public and generally give a drummed down non-scientific approach which is fine for normal non weather loving people. Not sure if that makes me anti-met. I certainly respect and listen to most of the mets on this forum. A few I question whether or not they actually have a degree or not. After all this is the internet and you can make yourself out to be almost anyone or anything.
IsentropicLift
I get asked by my girlfriend all the time, "What are they saying?" meaning what are the mets or news saying about the upcoming storm. My response is always the same, "If you want to know what they are saying you can turn on the TV, if you want to know what the models are showing let me show you." Wannabehippie
Snow pack took a beating today in the 50 degree temps in Astoria. Lots of spots that were before inaccessible due to mounds of snow are either now accessible or can be with just some minor digging.

Daliboo96
It does feel beautiful in the sun today. As the day wears on you can really see the areas of people's property that are receiving more sun taking a beating to their snow pack. Shady areas are definitely melting but much slower. As for the north shore area, between 60-65" looks like a good guess to me. Northshorewx or William, please chime in. I live in Bayville and I'm pretty sure we've had 62 for the year. It seems that North of 25A we've had a bit more snow then even the Hicksville area. Snow depth down to 11" as we've lost about 5 inches in the last 57 hours or so...
