Rib
and you are half the reason this forum has gone to sh*t... if you have something stupid to say (for you, that is anything), keep it to yourself. you drag every thread off-topic and demand discussion focus on far-flung towns that no-one cares about. This maybe the banter thread but enough of the personal attacks.

NorthShoreWx
You have to go down to north Florida to find a land station with a temperature over 40 degrees this afternoon, but we are going to find a way to rain tomorrow. How's that for banter?
Chinook
I wonder if this storm could be a 4 to 6 on the NESIS scale. With a NESIS number of 6.0 it would put it in the top 11 storms. If it was 4.0, that would mean only 30th on the list.

Chinook
I don't think ice counts for the NESIS. It's hard to quantify icefall. I suppose sleet gets counted as snow on local climate reports, but that's usually under 3". I am just wondering if this will be a bit low for New York, and of course the NESIS depends on population. New York is 23 million, which is obviously larger than most southern states. It seems to me like it is somewhere between a January 25, 2001 and a "Storm of the Century." It may bring 1/2 to 1/3 as much snow as the "Storm of the Century" nationwide. The squall line now in Orlando is very similar to the radar image from the "Storm of the Century" squall line. coastalplainsnowman
Am figuring this counts for banter: To read the current model thread one would think that LI will have some rain issues but still get hammered. And granted, NWS Upton has most of LI in 8+. But TWC, Accuweather, all the local mets I'm hearing are saying things much closer to a 2-5 total with a quick changeover. Lots of widely differing thoughts among what I'm seeing between this board, TV, etc.

Just want to sit back and enjoy the storm instead of obsessing over the radar and R/S line And that's what I do.... when we're getting close to start time and I'm pretty sure how things will turn out, I stop checking radar, Am. weather etc. and just sit back and enjoy... probably won't check in again until tomorrow after the front end ends, to check in about the back end later.
