PB GFI
Bro I'm trying to fly out of LGA at 6am Friday (just have to get to ATL by about 10:15) en route to the DR, I want this to be rain for the city and over by tomorrow evening. You guys can get bombed out there. Chris , you have zero shot - ground stop all day tomorrow EC will get back to normal Sunday . Anything that corridor will be shot to hell
pazzo83
Good luck with that, even with mostly rain for the city which I doubt is happening the airlines are going to be a mess.Yea I'm tracking it like a crazy man. Luckily 6am flight is first one out, (crossing fingers) LGA should be clear to at least allow planes to depart by 6am Friday, so as long as a plane and crew are there, I'm hoping we are ok. I can probably take a delay to as late as 8am before I'll miss the connection.
pazzo83
Chris , you have zero shot - ground stop all day tomorrow EC will get back to normal Sunday . Anything that corridor will be shot to hell I don't know, CLT is still functioning with minimal delays (no ground stop) and it has been snowing like crazy down there. I would imagine there will be a ground stop up here sometime Thurs AM, but DCA/BWI/(maybe)PHL/LGA/JFK should be running in the afternoon. Edit: CLT is in a ground stop right now but flights are taking off.

NorthShoreWx
There are maybe 3-4 times in my memory of that playing out accordingly. There was an 8" snowstorm in ATL in April in the early - mid 80's that was 60s and rain in this part of the country. Yes ... April! They got right under the 500mb low and had some wacky dynamic cooling in a small area.

REDMK6GLI
I wouldn't love being in the city for this storm either. The CCB looks to hammer areas to your northwest and you warm the fastest. I still have no idea why you prefer New York over Virginia. Having lived in both. Im on LI and i expect to get maybe 1-2" extra with whatever will be left with the CCB band that will be hammering your area. I dont see how LI gets another january 2011 or christmas 2002 weenie band that tracks our area and gives us another 6-12". i HATE relying on backlash snows in my area as 9/10 times they never work and are much weaker when they get to me. IsentropicLift
the city > boonie suburbs even if NYC turns to rain at least the snow will be pretty and there is no need to drive WTF is with your 'western suburb' boosterism? where is pompton plains, anyways? off EWR's runway? You're the poster child for why most Americans outside of New York hate New Yorkers.
weatherweather
dont forget that the models dont account for snowpack w/r to radiational cooling; so any rise in temps predicted by the models during daylight hours will be overdone. Its only safe to assume that most areas predicted to changeover will be colder and snowier than predicted
swamplover56
The met on MSNBC using his future cast said 4.7" of snow for NYC. Irresponsible to be throwing around that number when there is no guidance that shows this even if not relying on backend CCB snow NYC is modeled to get 6-8" in the front thump. odwalla
You're the poster child for why most Americans outside of New York hate New Yorkers. and you are half the reason this forum has gone to sh*t... if you have something stupid to say (for you, that is anything), keep it to yourself. you drag every thread off-topic and demand discussion focus on far-flung towns that no-one cares about. ak22
Need this to move faster!!! I'm there with you. I'm sitting in ATL, listening to the sleet hit the windows right now. I need to get back to Newark to get home, pick up my passport to get my flight to Portugal on Friday evening. Right now on a flight that lands at 8pm tomorrow night, but may rebook on to a Friday am - I think I have a better shot at EWR being opened by then. Flight to Portugal isn't until 7pm on Friday, that may help me somewhat. I think you & I are the only ones that are rooting for faster/warmer. Good luck getting to the DR! IsentropicLift
This is a myth if you ever have talked to anyone who's visited NY...but yea his comment was ridiculous I love visiting the city, seeing a show or whatever and getting in my car and going home back to my house with a lawn, trees and grass. If you prefer to live in the city that's fine by me. I like walking outside at night and hearing silence. Everyone is different, that's what makes the world go round. No need to try and belittle someone though because they live in the "boonies" I think a lot of this animosity stems from the lack of respect that "New Yorkers" have for everyone else. Not everyone fits that mold but it's been my overall experience having lived in this area my whole life.
