dmb8021 Posted January 29, 2014 Share Posted January 29, 2014 After hour 192, the GFS goes to 12 hour increments as opposed to the 3 hour increments up to that point. It doesn't allow you to see the 3, 6, and 9 hour stamps that occur between that, thus 'truncating' or 'shortening' the run. Mets may have a better explation as to 'why', but it would seem to help move the run along at the part of the run where it's so far in the future, it's providing guidance. The NAM also does 1 hour increments up to 36 and then truncates to 3 hour increments (and is a more 'short range' model). I still had my uniform pullover sweater on and he said ohh so you work for FDNY huh lol.. I showed him my ID and he said you're lucky you're a EMS Lieutenant and not a Fire Lt. then said have a nice day lol. They still have that animosity huh?
