There's no need to get mad over a storm. If it's a whiff then it's a whiff, if it's more then that's great, but why the anger. I admit I used to get frustrated when the models didn't show what I wanted to see, but by now you just gotta roll with the punches. I'm not going to be upset if all we see are a few flurries to an inch of snow.

To be honest, I'm bored. The only thing I look forward to in the winter are snowstorms. Considering that I don't have a job, I can't buy gifts for the holidays. So I'm just a guy that likes looking forward to snowstorms and plays lots of video games. I really hope that the storm on Thursday can bring something entertaining so I won't be bored.

Perhaps TWC just has a problem with LI.  Their performance here is hideous.

What is the source of their verification scores?

Agree, they have a huge problem with forecasts here. In the spring and summer, their forecast highs are way too low. Winter time their forecasts lows are too high. Their winter storm forecasts have been getting worse. I liked it when TWC got it's forecasts from the NWS/NOAA.

do some yard work, get a paper route

Not possible. I'm watching kids that are not mine and it's hard for my sister to get her own place. She tries her hardest to get a better and permanent job. It seems that the only way I'll get a job is that she can get the youngest child in a daycare and then I'll be able to get a job. There's tons of things I'd love to do with getting a job. Completing my wishlist is my primary objective, but that'll have to wait so I can move out on my own. Anyway, the next storm looks okay. I got weather proof boots for Christmas, so I would like to use them.

Aside from the very personal banter on a winter weather banter board, I think signs point to another significant event anywhere from January 6-8. I see a lot of digging going on out west and we all know the Euro blew this thing up in its previous run even though it was more of an inland runner.

I'll keep a close eye on that one. Sorry for the personal banter. Just had to seriously vent out.

I don't believe I've watched the Weather Channel since obtaining internet access during the 1990's; save for a few seconds here & there...it was an absolutely fantastic resource for its first 5 years (1982 -1987) and has steadily devolved ever since.

You gotta get up pretty early in the morning to glean any forecast (good or bad) out of TWC.

I was mildly curious what they would say about the upcoming storm early this evening,  I checked the channel guide shortly after 8PM and the next weather related programming wasn't scheduled until 4AM.

They are a non-entity; there are so many other channels with similar programming that they have no reason to exist at all.  Instead of faux reality, we watched a movie on Netflix.  I prefer my fiction presented as such.

Yeah it seems the posters who give us good play by play, went to sleep early tonight.

Hey at least I broke down the jist of it. It was a messy, less amped trough that was more progressive and spawned a weak coastal low that drifted basically ots. And I gave qpf numbers.

You have to admit it was fantastic in the early to mid 80's...Vince Miller, Charlie Welch, Bill Kneely, Herb Stevens, John Hope...and several other truly excellent mets.  I learned *plenty* watching during those years.

If  you wana see Variance in Modeling the difference between a 12z run and 0z run on Euro are as follows .
At 12z 12 inches by 0z turned to 3 on storm one , 10 below became 10 above , and a second shot at a snowstorm 3 days later became thisecmwf_t2m_neng_28.png
