Once you lose the cold air feed (as the parent high begins to retreat and the CAD wedge becomes in-situ), freezing rain can become self-limiting. The latent heat of freezing will warm things up and essentially bring it to an end.

yes...but in the favored areas here this almost never happens...it is an intransigent wedge.....but yes for many of us this will be the case..I'm already near 31...my time is borrowed....

Light Sleet.

Kinda like half of this forecast:

Tonight Freezing rain. Low around 28. Southeast wind around 6 mph becoming calm after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 100%. Total nighttime ice accumulation of 0.2 to 0.4 of an inch possible.

Monday Rain or freezing rain before 1pm, then a chance of rain between 1pm and 4pm. High near 41. Light and variable wind. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New ice accumulation of less than a 0.1 of an inch possible.

Monday Night A slight chance of rain between 11pm and 3am, then a slight chance of snow after 3am. Cloudy, with a low around 28. Northwest wind 6 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Tuesday Snow likely, mainly between 10am and 1pm. Cloudy, with a high near 34. Northwest wind around 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%.
