I'm still all sleet here, but temp. has climbed to 30.5 DP 28.8. Heavier stuff bringing warmth down??
PhineasC
28 here. Temps are rising so maybe ice won't be that big of a deal.

MillvilleWx
27.7 right now. Hey ravensrule, where are you from in Baltimore? I've basically been coming away with the same readings and was curious. Btw, I was at game too. What a treat, but I'm not looking forward to tonight. That moisture plume is basically aimed right at the Central Mid Atlantic.
olafminesaw
A lot of times around hear when we get good snow in marginal temps, cold air is drawn down with heavy precip. It seems like in this case the warm air will be drawn down by any heavy precip.

Kmlwx
Heavy freezing rain in Charlottesville, VA with 1.5 mi vis The question is - is it actually accumulating/are we getting accretion or is it just puddling because it's so heavy.

nflwxman
The question is - is it actually accumulating/are we getting accretion or is it just puddling because it's so heavy. It is beginning to accumulate on everything except for salted roads (which is most of them). I'm sitting at about 29.7 with a slight rise at the onset of the precip. Jebman
I tried to check the road to see if it was indeed just wet. It is, but not before I damn near fell trying to negotiate the sleet covered walk leading to the driveway. I hadnt realized that there was FZDZ. All places that have not been cleared of snow/sleet are an ice rink.

Freezing rain is overrated.... It definitely is, unless temps are truly cold. I am more worried about the snowpack soaking it up and then freezing solid this week in spots. nflwxman
Trees just doubled the size of their glaze (about 0.25 now) here in CHO. Just recorded 0.12 of precip in the last half hour!
