Curlyq
Just think how heavy that snow will be...I just went through the same debate. Two stage blower should handle it....if I clear now, then ice down but it would only last a few hours as the temps will warm tomorrow, or will they? clskinsfan
Couldnt quite hit 7 inches before changeover. 6.9 inches of snow. Now all sleet. That is a nasty slug of rain on the radar down south. When that gets here tonight we are going to have one hell of a icy mess on our hands. Shoveled a little over 4 inches earlier. I am am going to leave the other 3 inches on the driveway hoping that it will be easier to remove it tomorrow.

87storms
I can't stress enough that if you love snow don't live in dc if u can. Move to the nw burbs. Bethesda had squat earlier. I drive to northern moco and it's snow heaven. The elevation isn't much but it's enough.
Amped
Most of the mesoscale models keep the second batch to my south. However I95 gets clobbered and so does NRN VA south of 66.
I-83 BLIZZARD
Biggest storm here in a long time. Nice surprise to bust very high. 7 inches, more to come, and no winter storm warning.
nflwxman
We have been dryslotted since about 11 AM here after some really nasty pingers and ZR. Temp is 27 degrees, but we need QPF down here! Hopefully the batch later on will provide. Congrats to y'all in the North. You guys deserve this one.

das
Good job by the HRRR essentially nailing it starting at the 8AM run. I think I heard that LWX was releasing an 18z balloon to get a good idea of what's going on upstairs. Will be interesting to see how that impacts the short range high-rez models. Jebman
Good job by the HRRR essentially nailing it starting at the 8AM run. HRRR_nailedit.PNG My gut was right after all, I got a half inch of sleet/snow. One thing I have learned about some of these model runs very close to the event, is that although the model run may not be showing what you wanted (more snow), that does not necessarily mean that you should throw the run out. The really good news for my backyard, is that I should see a minimal amount of freezing rain for the rest of the event. Already I have very light freezing drizzle. The temp is rising too. I have 28 degrees. With any luck I can get an east wind off the bay, temps to 33, and plain regular rain all night while everyone up north and in the mountains enjoys an inch of ice.
