Wannabehippie
You can see pretty easily that there will be a decent northern cutoff with this system or at least a sharp north-northwest edge to the best banding thanks to the incoming polar disturbance. The jet stream is really screaming along...this one should be in and out pretty quickly. in by 9am out by 3pm? could get a quick 2-4 out of that. I would be impressed to see more given how quick it is moving.

SACRUS
In by 7-8 out by 3-4. Seems right although I can see it starting a hair later as the main area of precip is still west of Tenn but it will be hauling.

White Gorilla
Just wondering if there are specific dynamics that can be sampled better prior to help refine prediction of where mesoscale banding can take place. It seems like location of banding cant really be predicted with much certainty, though a general idea is often displayed on models. How can that be improved? Wxnyc
I have two questions, number one where is the cold air for tonight? I see basically 30 as the lowest temperature in ny state including western and northern parts. Second question is I don't ever remember getting a good snowfall in the 3-6 inch range with a northwest wind, do any of you remember a situation like that. Otherwise I'm psyched for our first snowfall for nyc and I will happy to observe from Brooklyn (home) and woodmere (work) and in between (belt parkway is sure to be a fun ride tomorrow if this snowfall happens. SnoSki14
The Nam looks a bit more expansive and I agree it's a tick wetter, but it pretty much held serve. For once the Nam is not being criticized for being a bad model.

Not going to be very cold until the storm leaves. In fact nyc might not drop below freezing until after the snow begins
