usedtobe
I'll have an article out later today. I see two possible scenarios, one that will make ji go into attack mode and another that will have him taking snow pictures. Don't know which is right. North Balti Zen
A bunch of infrequent posters have assured me in the storm discussion thread I should be prepared for a Miller B screwjob and dryslot concern. I had never heard that before and want to thank them for their concern in pointing this out. That is new and valuable information...

MN Transplant
Indeed. Ryan Maue at epicenter, no? I honestly can't figure out what the ratio is of shilling for WxBell vs trying to "win" the AGW argument for far right-wing conservatives everywhere using short-term model runs. I respect the fact that he has a PhD, which takes a hell of a lot of work, but damn if I don't find his online persona more and more unlikable as time goes by. Ian
You better hope this storm does not come to pass. The good news is if I'm wrong I get to play in the snow. Eventually this run will break but I just don't have high hopes in this type of situation. We've been through this all many times. I know the reasons it can snow but I don't weight them nearly as heavily as the reasons it can't. I'd be shocked if this is a big storm locally. SHOCKED. Ian
Could someone explain convective feedback? I see it mentioned all of the time with regard to models but have no idea what it means. Basically.. if the run isn't as good as you want it to be.. convective feedback. Or initialization errors.
snowfan
Like you said though, this run will break at some point. Sure would be nice if it did break right before the big cold arrives. WinterWxLuvr
Basically.. if the run isn't as good as you want it to be.. convective feedback. Or initialization errors. Ian
Thanks but somehow I think you could deliver a better explanation. It's just kind of like random big bullseyes of precip that shouldn't be as big or where they are. The model takes that and then re-jiggers the atmosphere (500mb etc) to assume it's real which can mess with other things down the line. In this case I'm not sure what they are seeing. You are probably right because as we know living in this area setups like this rarely deliver a big storm here. Just be ready though if it does pan out like the Euro is saying, to take a good deal of ribbing. Send me pics of your tan lines please .
