mappy
That euro snow map is a tad nut crunching....it's closer than the 12z one though...looks like a big storm even if it does miss us I've only been briefly skimming the pattern thread for days so hadn't seen a snow map until last nights euro. BristowWx
Sad to think the best part of our winter may end up technically being late fall. Don't want to throw in the towel yet but another month and we'll be talking sun angle issues so if it's gonna get good it needs to move quickly. mattie g
I'm a happy boy after that Eagles game. Winning the division and knocking the Cowboys out at the same time is like sugar on your Frosted Flakes. And at this point I'm rooting for a snow shutout for the rest of this winter. If we're going to suck, let's just suck all the way. Plus, I'm going to South Carolina in the middle of the month and I don't want to miss any snow while I'm golfing and fishing. MN Transplant
Our region is the Dallas Cowboys of weather... FYP...from a (long suffering) Browns fan and native Clevelander! No, the Cowboys have too much of a history, and the Browns (like my Vikes) have not tasted victory. We are more like the Tampa Bay Bucs. Consistently horrible, but for one bright, shining season, everything came together.

I'll never get over 98-99.

True, and at least the Cowboys have a few SB appearances and wins under their belt in that history. I still have not recovered from "The Drive" and "The Fumble" vs. the Broncos, both in the AFC championship game.

Ian
Is it better when the pessimists declare defeat 4 days out? Well that's pretty dumb too but the GFS is kind of a new solution. I wouldn't take too much from it at this pt.
PDIII
This is like a soap opera... DT wrote his retraction piece last night... admitting that he was wrong and how there is no chance of snow in MD/ VA. And all of his followers started yelling at him... asking.. "what are you going to do tomorrow when the Models Flip flop and it shows snow in MD/ VA again?" Basically he answered each comment by calling his follower "stupid". Now he s gonna have to do an alert on the 12Z GFS... I cant wait.

Ian I would always defer to your expertise over my tiny knowledge, but it seems the gfs just trended toward several of its ensembles and toward the euro solution of 3 days ago. I don't see it as a new solution.
Ian
Ian I would always defer to your expertise over my tiny knowledge, but it seems the gfs just trended toward several of its ensembles and toward the euro solution of 3 days ago. I don't see it as a new solution. I think the euro last night was more similar to the euro a few days ago than the current GFS. There are similarities at 500mb but the GFS has a dual low structure on this run which I don't think we've seen on any other runs recently and it probably helps the low nearest us kinda stall then meander east. This run almost misses SNE.. well, it does quite a bit compared to other runs.
Bob Chill
Is it better when the pessimists declare defeat 4 days out?We have an extensive resume here. I said yesterday that we need a big shift before the end of today. I didn't declare defeat as much as I stated proper expectations.Eta: I agree with Ian. A dual low structure is a new solution. stormtracker
Your handgun turned into an m16 with half a mag. If the Euro comes through, add a Gatling gun. I think this excitement will be fleeting and the Euro will bring us back to reality.
