No dogs here and the cat is outside but here's a shot from the village under the tree. It's always February '10 there.

Nice little setup. My boy would lay there for hours watching the train. I have an old school Tyco set in the attic but I'm not ready for my boy to destroy it yet. He's good when visiting. Notsomuch at home.

Can someone remind me what is "truncation" and what is "beyond truncation" with respect to the model discussion?

Oh, and merry Christmas to those who do the Christmas thing.

The GFS loses resolution at 192 hours, so in addition the fact that we are 8 days out and the models have limited value anyway, the value diminishes more than usual when you go to the lower resolution, especially with smaller features..

Thanks Matt...and the other answers gave me a nice chuckle.

lol

Last weekend, one of my friends came to "early" portion of our party with his four boys that I swear are crazy.  But the train was like a drug that just calmed them right down.

I'm sure that there are some wonderful holiday train gardens out your way, but if you're ever near Ellicott City, the one at their firehouse is pretty awesome.  Not the biggest I've seen, but a good size and super packed with villages.

Turn up your sound, it isnt the best quality with my Iphone but you can go to you tube and see it done the right way by the owner. We drove over to Edwards Landing tonight in Leesburg and this guy does a show every Halloween and christmas season. Lights to the music. It is so cool, I loved it.

Happy Christmas, everyone!

Got back from the Nutcracker this afternoon at the Warner Theater (Washington Ballet).  Our daughter is in the ballet school and today was one of the performances she was in, one of the little soldiers in the battle scene near the end of the first act.

I think the stage at the Warner broke the 2" barrier faster than DCA with the fake snow stuff that they have falling during the dance of the snowflakes at the end of act 1!  It was a veritable KU event!!  :snowman:

The only thing I want for Christmas is all globals to lock onto a monster miller a blizzard tomorrow and not lose it until I'm shoveling like Jeb. Is that really too much to ask?

Nah, sounds reasonable to me!  But of late the only thing Santa has given us weenies (or the weenie within us) is a +NAO in our respective stockings...the meteorological version of a lump of coal!!

I would prefer a huge storm that comes out of nowhere, maybe only about a 72 hour lead time. Maybe a forecasted cutter that suddenly gets modeled to slide right along the va/nc border.

I'm not sure that can happen anymore

I knew karma was going to catch up with me. Daughter woke up at 11p and proceeded to up chuck all over her herself, the wife and the arm chair. Should be a fun christmas. Wouldn't have it any other way!

Mine threw up 12 ounces of milk all over my wife, the bedroom floor, and the chair at around 10:30 and didn't go back to bed until 12:30. Then she woke up for good at 5:50. Of course, she's perfectly fine otherwise. Little stinker.

Merry Christmas!

Thank Santa!

I just put the B down for a nap since she woke up so early. Of course, this was after an outfit change necessitated by her heeding nature's call while eating breakfast in her high chair...

Nice!! Yes, it's a nice morning here. Merry first Christmas to B and the rest of your family! :)
