Scarlet Pimpernel
But BB was entertaining though I probably have forgotten how annoying he was. Agree! I kind of miss his 40"+ forecast in the DC area for February-March a couple of years back, in the face of an awful winter. He even had quite a long-winded "argument" (such as it was) for why that could/would happen. We were only about 39.5" shy, too!

snow.
No it's a problem when someone continues to focus on every possible thing that could go wrong. It's a problem when any post with any hint of optimism is squashed by a post loaded with pessimism. That's a problem! Unfortunately some of us are glass half empty people. It is possible to be realistic without being pessimistic. True...it isn't up to me to measure expectations...If people want to go all weenie every time there is a cold shot and a chance of something so be it...It is really none of my business...There is a reason Wes has to be very careful with his wording. He knows that otherwise educated people will interpret what he says as always a chance for the big one. I consider myself a glass half full person, because I am happy with snow events that are what we get 80+% of the time...small, mangled events..to me glass half empty are people who only chase big storms... snow.
I think folks (myself included) get excited at the sheer prospect of moving into a pattern that can produce snow of any amount. Leading up to an enduring these last 5-6 days sucked. I suppose some folks like tracking torches in winter but to me they are nothing more than a novelty. I don't spend much time if any looking at the panels. It's not why I joined eastern back in 06 and it's not why I post any analysis 7 years later. We are definitely moving into an "exciting" pattern because it contains chances for measurable snow. We know the risks. We know our climo. We know that we usually suck. But the only way we are getting any snow is a period of cool/cold temps with moisture around to work with. And that's where we are going. Win lose or draw. I'm excited. I try to measure expectations every year and I just get flack for it,...so not sure why I do it....It's not like I can control other people.. I think you generated the response because your posts were a bit curt and not half full. I personally don't care because I get what you're saying. A widespread 2-4" up and down the pop centers would go a long way to cure some of our weird ills on the board. Maybe we can let the NW folks back in after I drove them all away with my silly new subforum talk. LOLOL

mdhokie
Since this has turned into the stomach bug thread, I will add last Sunday I woke up around 3AM, had it coming out both ends for a couple hours. Felt better by Sunday night. I thought it might have been food poisoning since I ate some food from a vendor down at the inner harbor that afternoon. mitchnick
Thanks all. I have been told I look awful. I feel pretty bad still. Hopefully another day or 2 and I'll be back to normal. I started with some "lower stomach" problems myself yesterday and took a couple probiotic pills which seemed to work. 1 day wasn't so bad. I hope you feel better, or at least good enough to drink over the holidays.
PhineasC
We had the stomach bug over here a little before Thanksgiving. Was pretty short-lived, surprisingly. Maybe 4-5 peak hours and then just nausea for a couple of days. Thing sucks, though.
Bob Chill
It's pretty wild how effective stomach bugs are at spreading. Ran through my young ones elementary school like fires in santa Ana winds. The only saving grace is they don't dig in like the flu and bronchitis. They wrap the misery up in a messy little 1-3 day package and move on to the next victim. Matt should be rested and ready for tracking the Jan monster
