wxdude64
Really, the only place where 09-10 falls short of being the ideal winter is that it was never actually cold. The low temp for the winter at DCA was 16. I agree, just went looking for my last - number. It was 2/8/10 at -2. But even with Dec/Jan/Feb being big - departures for that year, that was the only - number. Had several single digit readings though.

The main problem is that there aren't any cart girls providing beverages for a small fee.

My buddies and I have soft coolers that match our bags, so we can get by with bringing a few of our own on certain courses when they're not otherwise available . Scarlet Pimpernel
Great shot! Thanks! That was a fun storm, the first "big one" we got here in the DC area since PD-II. In some ways I think it was a bit overshadowed in the wake of the back-to-back February storms. Seems surreal looking back now. Memories... 47276_104455916281810_4908686_n.jpg Nice!!! Yeah, it does seem surreal. It is kind of hard to believe it was 4 years ago, time seems to go faster as you get older I guess haha!

Bob Chill
Given the choice of one 20" storm or 3 6-7" storms, I'll take the latter. I'll still trade 09-10 for 5 straight climo years. Yea, 09-10 was insane but it's buried under nearly a 4 year blanket of despair and heartbreak now for many of us. Maybe it consoles a lot of folks. Not me. snowfan
Looking back at snowfall data for Baltimore........ The consistency at which Baltimore received snowfall on an annual basis pre-1970 is amazing. From 1883/1884 to 1969/1970 there were 63 seasons with at least 17" of annual snowfall. Since then, there have only been 17 such seasons. Going back to the earlier dataset....more than 20 seasons with at least 30". I sure hope we can flip the switch and get back to these times. I would much rather have 4 straight 20" seasons than 1 60" season followed by 3-4 in a row with less than 10".

I want the celestial compromise on my side of the scales. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk You need to move. History says you're never getting that in your area. I will say that good snow areas are only a short drive away. Many of us are only a 3 hr drive from areas that avg > 100". Maybe we just need to frequent Jon jons inn more often and give the man some business.
