00z NAM has 850 temps of +1C for Tolland at 6z lol

Now that the event is over, is there anyway that we can avoid posts like the one above that focus on one specific place (one specific poster)?  I know it's all in fun but after a while the incessant posts get really annoying.  It just doesn't advance anything, especially in a discussion thread.

I think he was trying to show you that wam layer.

I was concerned when I kept looking at the areas where it was coming from was not improving that much. I mentioned earlier that back in my day we looked at AVP (Scranton) for clues what would happen here 3 hours later or so and things never improved there. In fact, when I spoke with a friend there at 9PM and she said the ground was covered with sleet and that's what we found out, that should have been my tip right there.

South of the pike was always rather dicey. Even the euro had a warm layer that did not want to go anywhere.

I have no idea why Albany had a WSW.

You know what this event should nail home to people is that the snowfall maps from various models are utterly ridiculous. Shouldn't use them ever, but especially not in a marginal situation.

The post yesterday from twitter where Bastardi wrote "Wham bam thank you NAM" and showed the NAM snowfall map of 6-12" from PA through all of eastern NY and SNE was pretty much irresponsible. He knows who listens to him and he knows that was just to hype people up. That stuff drives me crazy. He then backs out by saying that wasn't his forecast, he was just showing what the model had...but knew what he was doing the whole time.

That's classic JB.  The NAM is always overdone, he should know better

That would be fine if it read "00z NAM has 850 temps of +1C for NE CT at 6z" but it specifically pointed toward the location of a single poster and took joy in that it would be the posters dismay.

I'm not going to dwell on it and I know you guys have an "internal" thing going on but I know that are other "outside" posters like myself that find it annoying sometimes.

I think because he was a ignoring that warm layer. I don't see an issue, but that's me.

I think it's more because a person in Tolland is a prominent poster. I mean if it looks to rain or snow or whatever up here someone might post >0C at H85 over powderfreak, or we usually single out posters to talk about their area.

I mean if I have an event that looks like it may rain or something on the models but I'm posting something different (like all snow), I would actually rather someone point out what I'm missing, rather than turning blinders to it. But I'm conservative usually anyway so it's often the opposite.

It's amazing that the Hype has all of these apologists on here. Kevin knows what he's doing and brings this stuff on himself. Ryan mentions warm mid-level concerns and Kevin replies back with a weeniecast of 2-4" with higher lolli's or something.

LOL.  It's a gorgeous morning regardless.  And, no need to shovel for only two inches ftw.  My rule of thumb is that if it's less than 3", let it lie.

Maybe we can match these amounts for tomorrow night before the rains.

29.2/26

It will be down to an inch by noon. lol

Just under 1" here.  Gorgeous morning but already falling out of the trees. Enjoy it while you can.

Sucks that this underperformed because Monday looks like garbage time as well.  heavy, heavy disappointment.

But nobody cares about picnic tables at 4 kft anyway.

Whopping 0.2" here at GYX.

To be fair it was a storm total through Monday, not just last night. The Euro was similar up until 0Z from SNY and back through PA. Because the guy shows a model on his Twitter page and makes a corny pun,  that doe's not constitute irresponsibility. He never made a forecast on Twitter except for his own backyard. If we get into an area where we start calling meteorologists irresponsible because of private social media posts, then we gravitate to weather board posts which mock posters or make subtle gay jokes. All of this is a slippery slope. If you don't like the guy, don't read his Twitter posts

No doubt.  Sun's doing it's work when it breaks through the clouds, up to 30.8/27.

Time to shift my focus to other threads.  See you all there when you give up on this one.  :)

There is nothing private about that social media account. He knew what he was doing by posting the most juiced solution. The irresponsibility arises from the fact that the public gets the wrong message. JB and WeatherBell have plenty of ties to national media, and posting a snowfall map on Twitter goes farther than just a "private" or "personal" account.

Ohh trust me I don't read his posts, just what was posted here. I lost respect for him a long time ago as a sensationalist.
