This is a brutal PNS from ALB considering they had watches up less than 12 hours prior to precipitation starting.

Also, I can't believe the ALB ASOS recorded only 0.06" of precip?  That was supposed to be a solid half inch there, no?

Well I kept hopes tame here but certainly thought ORH and north would do better yesterday aftn. By night I posted that it may only be a narrow area cashing in with maybe 1-2 spot 3" on either side of that area. Didn't think that "caching" in area was 2" lol. Oh well. The precip really raced out quicker than modeled had. It was done at 06z practically.

I wish Mondays event didn't look as awful.

Beautiful morning outu there.  I guess the snow ended right after I pulled into the driveway.  I think Jerry was joking when he told me I might miss is--I pretty much did.  But from Deerfield on north at midnight, the drive was just beautiful.  Just me and the snow-covered interstate.

I hate it when 2" is a jackpot.  But, it puts a festive look out there for getting the tree today.

Lift left early and BL temps of 34-35 didnt help

Well most of us were concerned days ago about these events and the struggle to advect the cold in in time east of the hills. Unfortunately, the crappy nucleation and hit or miss lift ruined it for the interior. The lift exiting as fast as it did obviously didn't help either.

You win some and you lose some. I'm sure it hurts the most for Mitch and others around the ALB CWA.

Idk why you're surprised. This wasn't supposed to be anything big except for people in NH and further west. Don't listen to the hype! This board does nothing but that.

Well I think most of the mets here expected less than what even the NWS offices had...especially for the interior. Maybe you just read too many Kevin posts...you need to train yourself to skip over 95% of them.

I was definitely bullish on nrn ORH getting 2-4. Another hour or two and it would have happened, but alas. Faster movement, patchy lift, and lift through a warm layer FTL. Thought it would be more than 2.25". Even the more modest SREFs had high probs. Good lesson to look back on.

i wasn't feeling this one. only thing that gave me pause was that area that you mentioned there...N orh county into the N berks...even there i shouldn't have fallen for it. lol

I didn't have high hopes locally, we even posted about that yesterday....but that area and into adjacent middlesex county I thought would make out better. You were definitely on the money for not feeling it. Good call with that.

I was concerned when I kept looking at the areas where it was coming from was not improving that much.  I mentioned earlier that back in my day we looked at AVP (Scranton) for clues what would happen here 3 hours later or so and things never improved there.  In fact, when I spoke with a friend there at 9PM and she said the ground was covered with sleet and that's what we found out, that should have been my tip right there.
