That area produces more often then not.... Shelton area over towards the 'bury's thru New Milford and Bridgewater

Yup and they do particularly well in this kinda setup. An initially moist easterly flow rises a bit into W CT even as far south of Ridgfield and Trumbull plus they don't have up deal with stubborn dry air wedged in the ct river valley.

Take a look at this isentropic plot with pressure advection shaded and isobars contoured on the 290K isentrope. This is valid 12z Monday from the 24 hour GFS. That batch of stronger warm advection/isentropic upglide develops overnight in upstate NY and slides east into CNE. 

 

The stuff that's producing the snow this morning in the mid atlantic (aided by the left entrance region of the jet streak over New England) slides out into the Atlantic underneath us. It's the stuff near Pittsburgh PA that will ooze northeast later today and tonight.
