snowfan
Here's a link to a Z time conversion chart. Considering how often 'what does 21Z mean?' type questions are asked it may not be a bad idea to pin this link.....especially during the winter months when the board is more active. http://www.scc-ares-races.org/generalinfo/utcchart.html

Scuddz
I love bartender time. It allows me to time travel and arrive home before I left the bar.
ravensrule
It is pretty easy to figure out. It is military time minus 5 hours in the winter and it is minus 4 in the summer.
mattie g
Just ask a Zulu. He or she would be happy to tell you the time.
North Balti Zen
Too much thinking with that chart. Here's Ji's shorthand from the banter thread (easier to find here): 12z is 7am 18z is 1pm 21z is 4pm 00z is 7pm this only applies during Nov-March
NeffsvilleWx
It is pretty easy to figure out. It is military time minus 5 hours in the winter and it is minus 4 in the summer.Um no. "Military time" is a format that uses a 24 hour clock. It still uses local time zones unless otherwise noted."Zulu" is based on Greenwich mean time (now UTC) or the time at the prime meridian (0 degrees longitude). You're correct in the number of hours to convert zulu to eastern time though.

Ummm yes, i am aware but the easiest way to explain it is to take the Z time as military time and minus the hours like i explained. Sorry i confused you. Sorry i confused you. Didn't confuse me. I was in the Army for 8 years. Zulu time isn't military time, or vice versa.

WinterWxLuvr
It is pretty easy to figure out. It is military time minus 5 hours in the winter and it is minus 4 in the summer. And if you don't like military time, perform the subtraction you mentioned, then subtract 12 if your first result is bigger than twelve.

I understand what neffsvillewx is saying but that only applies if someone is is diffent times zones and jumping around constantly. For us in the eastern time zone it works just fine for the military time minus 5 and 4.
