msp
the bears had a thread for their last game's weather, so here's one for what could be a fun winter weather repeat in two days. for vikes fans, this'll be the first home game outside in close to 30 years (afaik), and it could be a memorable one. forecast high monday is 23F and the low that night 17F. snow, possibly coming down at a good clip, is looking increasingly likely. they'll be heating TCF with coils to try to thaw the field, but who knows how well that'll work. here are the 18z NAM sim reflectivity and 6hr precip for 6pm and 6pm-12am Monday night:

baroclinic_instability
My general thoughts because I want that game to get destroyed by snow. NAM is a lone holdout with most guidance tracking this through faster and mostly before the game. The NAM, as I alluded too in the central/western, has some validity with the slower solution since rapid intensification can shunt the storm farther W and slower. Right now it still looks on track to be snowing heavy at times during the game, especially early since I am giving the slower/stronger solutions more validity. Game starts at 8 PM central? So 02Z. baroclinic_instability
The UK is an example of a much faster solution and spreads the snow out by 00Z pretty much.http://www.meteo.psu.edu/~gadomski/UKMET_12z/ukloop.html SREF went faster too, but I still think a better than 40% chance this things intensifies a lot and slows down a little similar to NAM. Yeah I think the actual kickoff is around 8 PM after doing a little research. I think the probability just went up to about 75% for at least good snow for the start of the game. jhamps10
RIP to the rest of the Metrodome roof panels. More like RIP to the Minnesota Vikings too IMO if that happens, they'll be heading for the sun of LA if that's the case... Lease in the dome ends after next year, haven't been able to get a new stadium for 10+ years, plus they'll be building an NFL stadium in LA... yeah something tells me the Vikings are gone from Minnesota. Besides it'll likely be a blowout anyway no Favre and all that, feeling sorry for all the viking fans that'll have to be outside in that, and to make it worse, since it's at U of M they can't sell booze either... BowMeHunter
The dumps roof collapsing was probably the saving grace of the Vikings in MN. I'm happy for that.. I don't want them out in Cali.. That state is f'ed up even worse if imaginable.

I wouldn't be surprised if something happened though if there is no motion for a new stadium, look what happened to the Colts in Baltimore or the Browns in Cleveland. Sometimes things just happen. Sometimes things just happen. then that would be the case later this year. i'd wait until after the budget is settled and the stadium seriously discussed before making any predictions. pawlenty is gone and the state legislature flipped. both parties have talked about the stadium and a bill will be introduced once the deficit is resolved. i'm not in panic mode. i saw a far worse situation with the twins than what we see now with the vikes, and eventually that got done. i honestly think the chargers are more likely to move than the vikings. SEMIweather
IMO The Chargers or Raiders are going to move to L.A. Since I guess I should throw in something weather related, I will say that I'm excited to watch another snow bowl.
trapperman
should see WSW's flying in MN in the morning. TOO MANY OPTIONS TO CONSIDER...PLUS OTHER MESOSCALE FACTORS WHICH MAY INDUCE SNOW BANDING AND HIGHER SNOWFALL RATES. THEREFORE...A WINTER STORM WATCH WILL BE ISSUED THIS MORNING FOR AREAS NORTH OF A LINE FROM BENSON...TO HUTCHINSON TO FARIBAULT MN.
msp
good news is that temps still look relatively warm for an evening this time of year. mpx has 23F around kickoff dropping to maybe 22F by the 4th quarter. winds should be around or a little less than 10mph. msp
a few facts: -it'll be 29 years to the day since the last outdoor football game in MN -50yr anniversary of MN vikings... legendary vikes will be flown in to be honored -100th meeting with da bears on a side note, i need adrian and the chicago d to combine for 30 pts to win in fantasy football this week. i don't like my odds. msp
actually I think that is very realistic and the weather will help i'm not so sure. they had a combined 5 pts last week, and if peterson somehow manages 3 TDs, the bears d will take a hit... i need webb to have lots of handoffs and INTs. back to the field and game: kluwe is upset, the other teammates not so much http://kstp.com/news/stories/S1889798.shtml?cat=
