WEATHER ADVISORY FOR MIXED PRECIPITATION...WHICH IS IN EFFECT

FROM 10 PM THIS EVENING TO 5 AM EST SATURDAY.

* LOCATIONS...PORTIONS OF THE LOWER SUSQUEHANNA VALLEY AND EAST

CENTRAL MOUNTAINS.

* HAZARD TYPES...SLEET AND FREEZING RAIN...ENDING AS A FEW HOUR

PERIOD OF WET SNOW.

* ICE ACCUMULATIONS...1 TO 2 TENTHS OF AN INCH...NEAR AND TO THE

NORTH OF INTERSTATE 81.

* SNOW ACCUMULATIONS...ONE INCH OR LESS.

* TIMING...RAIN WILL CHANCE TO A SEVERAL HOUR PERIOD OF SLEET AND

FREEING RAIN LATE THIS EVENING...BEFORE ENDING AS A BRIEF PERIOD

OF WET SNOW WELL AFTER MIDNIGHT.

* IMPACTS...HAZARDOUS TRAVEL ON UNTREATED ROADS. ISOLATED POWER

Decent looking 700 mb frontogenesis currently over southern Ohio based on the SPC mesoanalysis. As it moves towards the northeast that should support at least some enhancement of precipitation rates over central PA.

 

It should also, more importantly, support cooling at that level. :)

Yes and there is also some weaker frontogenesis between 700 and 850 mb where there may still be some air above freezing. However, the sleet/snow line is looking pretty well defined on CC and it is pushing generally westward. Hopefully ptype won't be much of a concern within the next hour.
