mattie g
I went to sleep before the 0z GFS and haven't seen any models so far this morning (not that I'd know what they're saying if I saw them), and I'm half afraid to read the storm thread. mattie g
That darn warm ground is going to ruin every storm this winter. I've had ice stalagmites growing up out of my front garden bed for the last week or so. They finally melted fully yesterday, just in time for our non-sticking mixed event. I'll sum up. If you were insanely thinking it was a 6"+ storm then all the runs suck. if you think we will get a little bit of frozen of some form then go to rain then nothing changed. DDweatherman
Wait...is that what the euro showed? No, to be honest the Euro was every bit of a significant storm for the JYO area, all things considered. 6"+ of snow and heavy icing.
Ian
So yesterday's 12z euro was right but the 12z and 18z gfs were not....today the 6z gfs is right and the 0z euro isn't? Just trying to gauge Ian's posts todaylol it's going to be a long winter..
Bob Chill
I think the gfs got sick of all the bashing and godly euro talk so it hacked into meteocenter servers and swapped out the Oz euro init data dump with the 18z gfs init data. Then the gfs used the 0z euro data for its 6z run. It's gettin all Hal9000 and stuff out there.

Ian
Euro does a one or two run burp plenty in this range. If it looks good at 12z it may be something.
Ltrain
As long as this storm is not named Cleon then I am okay with mostly rain.

At this point it's pretty likely that one of model runs from the globals in the last day and a half has nailed this system.

aldie 22
Just thinking that. Last run could be a fluke. Euro never fails to disappoint. Was the euro a burp or did it just bring the precip in faster and hold the cold longer....more of an adjustment...or did it completely change its solution? I don't know that answer

I don't know that answer People were positive it would NO us again at 0z, but it obviously didn't. If nothing else, I love that the doomsdayers got a 12-hour reprieve. Kind of like the end-of-the-world folks who keep pushing back their date for Armageddon.
