4-8 with a warning for the s berks?!  I wrote that from my basement cuz I'm headed there tonight

Where are you headed?

What does a Pike north deal mean then? Please elaborate. The way I read that is only Pike north gets snow IYO

I have problems with the "pike north" reference for one reason:  the Pike is a long road, and I sometimes think it's a reference to the Pike inside of 495 or 128--similarly with Route 2.

I think sometimes its approrriate across the region, but other times it's a very boston-centric term.

To me, this is looking like a good 2-4 hr burst of snow in most areas..perhaps longer in NW MA. The trends have been our friend over the last 24 hrs. The omega or lift will help flip this over so if indeed lift is strong..it may help flip BOS to TOL over quicker. If not, the opposite happens...but either way..seems like most areas flip.

I think when people say pike north it's actually not Boston centric but more giving the idea that latitude vs other features is the biggest driver of who gets what. And in most swfe's that's the case.

Yep, it's not always BOS centric. In this case, it's because the best combo of ingredients will be there for a time.

That is really going all out. You have to have 50% confidence or better for 7"+ for more than half of the watch area to issue that.

Sounds like they have 50% confidence in 7"+... haha.

BEING THIS COULD BE THE FIRST SIGNIFICANT WIDESPREAD SNOWFALL EVENT

OF THE YEAR...AND THE CONFIDENCE LEVEL FOR HEAVY SNOW (7 INCHES OR

MORE) WAS RIGHT AROUND 50 PERCENT...WE WENT AHEAD AND ISSUED A

WINTER STORM WATCH.

A Norman Rockwell Christmas look in store.

I realize that.  But I do think it's used in other events as well.

Sometimes I'm happy to be in the netherland between Albany and BOX.  Being bordered by albany zones to the north and west frequently keeps me guessing.

I'm also shocked and smugly satisfied that the thread I started 6 days ago for a dubious-looking event might provide folks a couple inches to kick off the weekend.
