 Stovepipe,

That's perfectly understandable and I fully empathize. However, what about the option of TN Valley topics within the SE Forum? It already has a Florida thread.

In a perfect world that might work.  But TN threads don't have a very good track record here.  They tend to get trolled or dominated by NC weather talk.

I agree that we needed a split. I think it shouldn't be split right at the TN NC line though. East TN Chattanooga, pigeon forge,up to the tri cities should stay in the SE forum though. There weather is close to NW Ga and NC mountains other than the CAD which doesn't affect many NC mountain. Locations either. Knoxville west is very different weatherwise and should be where the split happens. TN is a long state.

Would it make sense to consider having TN Valley topics and non-TN Valley topics but both still within the SE forum? Any opinions on this? Actually, the SE forum has had Florida topics since the start I think and that seemed to work ok.

Look at how the CentralWest forum splits topics up between subregions and it is a much bigger area with bigger wx differences.

Exactly. I have always  understood the frustrations of the tn valley posters about being outnumbered because I/we have been there done that. Hell remember back on wwbb how outnumbered we were? Remember when eastern started how outnumbered we were again? But it didn't stop us from posting. The only ones who could steer the focus, discussion, and more members over to our area was us.  And over time, because of that willingness to keep on posting, the southeast region of posters exploded.  There has never been anyone stopping them or discouraging them. In fact, I have always wished there were more from there and/or they would post more often and have said so numerous times over the years

sort of shame that infighting seems to have come to the se threads (which used to have almost none of the issues in the mid atlantic, ne etc).  i know how people feel about being left out but thats the way the weather is sometimes. the perfect cad set up screws west of the mtns.  storms can go MS, AL TN and screw GA, NC, SC  (virginia being so close to DC is screwed anyway lolol. j/k btw to the va peeps. i lived in DC for a long time)

if things keep getting split up then there were just be a few posters in each state or area specific thread and seems pretty boring to me.  nc is usually more active cos it is usually the one in the most likely chance of winter wx most of the time, esp the mtns.

i enjoy seeing the different locations posted for their general area cos you can see peoples thoughts and then when combined you can get a good idea of the general se storm potentials. i just hope and cross my fingers that whatever prompted all this and whoever made some want to leave the general thread for their own doesnt degenerate into the MA where each and every thread is wishing/hoping others get screwed while they get snow.  <_<

NEGa please. :)  I assure you, there has been PLENTY of winter weather going on outside of NC in the south east.  In fact, I'd argue that for the past three years east Arkansas, west Tennessee, and southern Kentucky have had far more winter weather than North Carolina.  The additional chatter from NC folks has nothing to do with that area having better chances.

I really don't see how this new sub-forum could possibly affect you guys negatively.  But, I'm not going to debate the merits of it either.  We rallied for the change, the admins agreed, we're moving forward.  Best of luck to you guys.

I mostly read here more than post but I'm excited a Tennessee Valley sub-forum is up and will likely post there a good bit. I must say though I have learned a lot about NC micro-climates and find the varied weather there fascinating and interesting to read about here. It will be nice to have more people to sympathize with the valley screw zone that happens around here so often with the new sub-forum.
