Because it is corroborated with 16 - yes 16 - different weather stations throughout the neighborhood, 1 from the town hall, 1 from my place of business and 1 from the elementary school 2 miles away. I'll even throw in my minivan thermometer for ****s and giggles.

It's all irrelevant anyway, because judging a departure based on 9 days of data is worthless, useless and completely unnecessary.

***EDIT***

And please school me on how this statement is incorrect:

"Dude - mid 50's and mid 40's for highs on 7 days and the 2 days of 68 & 71 do not reflect averages properly."

Are you really telling me that the above statement isn't true?

What are you talking about? I was just stating that December has been a torch so far.

Make sure you read the ***EDIT EDIT*** as well

I read it, but I don't understand how this isn't a SE torch.

I'm pretty sure if we did a flip from +12 and +4 to -12 and -4 departures we would be saying how cold or frigid the month was. You guys did this in November.

thats the same unit as mine :snowman:

That's a blizzard right, I have seen a few pop up on Craigslist, mainly in the NE and Western US, none locally.  Their older units are supposedly better than the newer stuff they are putting out ~ 1800.  I already have a decent pressure washer, 3.2 gpm gas, and Craftsman air compressor, ~ 9 CFM, missing link is the gun.  Also have a liquid cooled Honda GX360 that I rebuilt and is ready to go, thought about engineering an all in one which is what I really want, 14hp would do it, but linking that to two different pumps, yeah, outside of my knowledge base atm.  Been looking at Snow@Home's SG6, really all I need.  Unsure of the quality, and CFM drop I would get from the compressor on a 50-75ft hose.  Temps here too are an issue, there will be a few nights when I can run for 8 hours, although 40hrs a season seems to be the max for good snow making, maybe 60-80 in a cold year.

.

I can't believe I'm reading this. I was online last night for over an hour googling how to make snow with a pressure washer. The weather conditions (wet bulb, dew point)are the no brainier. It's using my pressure washer with and air compressor. Obviously if you have access to a retaining pond or even outdoor pool the water will be already cooled as opposed to well or city water and should net better results. The more air pressure verse water pressure at discharge is where the trick for success is. Most ski slopes use retaining pond water. Thinking that if you have access to a creek or pond the silty water will produce bigger flakes compared to pure water.

For you and Florida yeah... But not everybody else. Other than a couple days with slightly above normal temps temps have been average to below average. So come the end of the month... with a continuation of the pattern that we are seeing now... DEC will end average to below average for much of the SE. I'm talking north of Waycross and FL. There is no way in cold hell that Bevo is running a +8 departure.

How the hell is this average to below average? Nearly everyone is 6+. 12-15 down here in the past 7 days. We definitely torched the first 10 days of December.

Perhaps you're just not getting that mid 50's and mid 40's for HIGHS 7 out of the last 9 days doesn't jive with your proclaimed torch.

This is the coldest I've been in December since '09 bro.  You are either wrong in saying the "SE" has torched, or your definition of "torch" is sh**ty.

As with what I said in the previous post.... North of Waycross and Florida. Sorry buddy but you revolve around the earth and the earth doesn't revolve around Waycross/Macon south to Florida. That map is seriously flawed.

Edit...

In order to have so called +8 departures for Bevo or north the whole upper level pattern would have to be completely different. A Strong SE ridge dominated pattern... which has been lacking. So as Ive said Dec will finish average to below average north of Waycross GA.

That map shows you that nearly everyone is running +6?

Most of the SE is in the greenish tint, which I see a (-) in front of the correlating number. Have I been looking at these things all wrong?

***EDIT***

I see what you did.  When I clicked on the link it defaulted to the last 30 days.

You guys are debating the letter of the law vs the spirit of the law. A +6 average departure over a 10 day period is a mathematical torch. But the effective torch index (ETI), which is defined by time torched divided by total time, in a period where 8 out of 10 days were at or below normal does not indicate that a torch has occurred (a value greater than .5 indicates possible torching). You can thank me when you see me.

Yeah, that was the default view that came up when I clicked it too. I thought it was a link to a map that was already reflective of the time period in question. :arrowhead:
