Had 0.99 at 7 when I reported this morning. Another 0.33 since, so a rain total of 1.32 here. I can see a few breaks in the clouds to the S and SE, and the wind has really picked up in last hour from the W to WNW at 20 gusting low 30's.

During the heavier bands last night you could see very sloppy mangled flakes/graupel between 1-3 am mixed in with the rain. Temps were 34-35 and dews at 32-33 during.

Tomorrows rain should be wonderful while driving down I95

Wasnt that fun driving down in that crap. It wasnt fun driving up in that crap either. Good seeing you though passing the other way on 64.

1.27" in the gauge today, not bad.

Left OBX this morning was a nice morning, OVC and in the low 60's, hit the rain near the state line on 168 and by the time we got to just east of Williamsburg it poured on and off all the way to Richmond. Traffic sucked big time. 3 wrecks on 295 near Hanover in a 2 mile stretch, people being dumb mainly. By the time we got to near Fredericksburg and the other 5 bazillion cars on 95, the sun was trying to poke through. Then by the time we got near Bealton and Opal, VA sun was out all the way home. Temps went from 55 or so in Williamsburg and then by the time we got in Richmond it dropped to 48*.

Heavy rain near Exit 211 on I 64 between Richmond and Williamsburg

Radar shot of the heavy rain along I 64

Flooding on Rt 17 north of Falmouth, VA

Luckily for the NB side of 17, the new pavement was down since the old lanes that they were using were flooded out as in the pics here

Assuming today is pretty much right on climo for the day, we'll end the month at +2.5-3F for all the 3 airports in DC/Baltimore.  Solid verification for Matt's forecast.

Yet perception is different than the reality for many (me included).

I'm honestly tired of the positive departures - not because I not like warmth (I do) but because I find it a little disturbing for some reason.

For an amateur the guy is unreal.

For this region there is probably no one better at winter outlooks than Matt. Summer is easier so not sure I can give him that prize but likely so.

Just for the record.. highs overperformed again today.

Not to mention forecasts a few days ago were 30s tomorrow now it looks like mid-40s. Another color me skeptical on the huge cold given the performance from range this mo.
