It was hard to believe this afternoon at 3pm that there was still some snow left on the grass on north facing lawns - in 60 degree weather with sunshine. That ground must be super cold. There are still some snow piles around as well - but this weekend should roast the snow piles and unfreeze the ground. Hard to believe we will hit 70 degrees on Sunday!

I had originally thought that we'd keep nearly 100% snowcover at least until tomorrow.  While we still have that at about 2-3", but I'm thinking it might not last the day.  Perhaps it will if it's cloudy all day.  Either way, it's gone tomorrow.  Nice run for early December.

Stayed warm here all night.  I haven't checked any obs, but I suspect that was the case everywhere with the exception of maybe some low lying areas.

My 2m temps were all over the place last night. It bounced between 35F and 49F throughout the night depending on the breeze at the time. I live at the bottom of a little hollow so cold air funnels down to me from two directions.

You are right about this being a good run. This is my 13th day of snowcover although it's hard to call that snow out there. If you look closely, you can see the sled tracks from my daughter and I doing a couple of final sled runs last night:

Closer to DC the snow pack is going fast. I had over 90% snow coverage this a.m. at 3 - 4", and this afternoon it was down to 60%. I'm guessing it will all be gone by the end of tomorrow. It was a good run of snow cover though...almost 2 weeks.

I'm ready for what's left to melt away, but my guess is that it won't be until Sunday's showers that the piles in the shade disappear.

In any case, nearly twelve days of complete snow cover in December is pretty awesome.

I thought it would be gone IMBY by now, but it's still there.... like over 90%.

60s are all stuck down in hampton-roads right now...they are torching

MOS was coolish today, though it was yesterday as well.  But it did seem possible we'd cloud up and not warm too hard.  I wonder how that plays out the next two though we will be deeper into the warm then as well.

yeah..as you said the models hinted at it...that cool temps would sag to our south...we are still +10 already today even if we don't go up another degree., but those +27's might be harder to get....
