Gilbertfly
definitely a mini shock to the system with a few of the gustier breezes in the face this morning walking the kids to school...finished up our last job with the landscape company yesterday....looks to be timed well. Clean the machines, trucks, etc. today and call it a year! .... now, time to work on freezing up the layers on the skating rink
wisconsinwx
Sorry DLL, -3F with bare ground is not ideal.
daddylonglegs
Good way to get a nice deep frost in the ground...probably not good for bugs? NWS upped it to -1F now... You can't get much colder with bare ground... Think what a deep snow cover would do... Looking at he extended, and we don't get out of the teens for at least a week! Next week looks brutal with subzero temps. Could have a real winter this year if we get some snow cover.
harrisale
53F and sunny right now. Cold front on its way, this won't last for long.

Gilbertfly
Tuesday morning should have a fairly legit winter feel for the first time for me....whether there is a dusting or an inch or whatever....the snowcover combined with double digit below zero windchills....been awhile for that scenario IMBY at least
Ottawa Blizzard
That was a great winter! One of the worst ones of my life, along with 2011-2012. Thankfully I moved to Ottawa in January 2006 and so missed the near snowless January torch in Toronto that year.

Middle of the afternoon, full sunshine, -24c. First time I'm experiencing daytime cold like this,

cyclone77
The trace of snow that fell before sunrise is still on the ground. The problem we had with warm ground earlier this season are history. Bottomed out at 16 mid-morning, and didn't rise much from there the rest of the day. Had some filtered sun through the high canopy of cirrus, which was the northern extent to the storm system missing to the south.
daddylonglegs
12F... furnace is kicking on a lot now... pretty much if the sun is out, the furnace stays off (good south exposure/windows)...but once that goes, the solar gain is toast and the gas bill starts building
Geos
Down to 20° now, but it hasn't really cleared out completely yet. Freaky cold tomorrow morning.
snowstormcanuck
Went out to get an espresso. Foam froze within 30 seconds of walking out the door of the coffee place. I'm still amazed that people came here and stayed.
