Stat alert. As temps warmed into the low 40s ahead of the front and the sun came out today, our last few patches of "natural" snow melted. Just piles left. The front brought with it 0.01" of drizzle/freezing drizzle leaving a small film of ice, but no snow. So my 8am snow depth tomorrow will be 0, ruining a streak of some amount of snowcover since Dec 9th for one whole day, as some fresh snow will be on the ground Tuesday morning. With snow and cold appearing to lock in, it hopefully will be a lone day of 0 for quite sometime this winter. North of a DTW-DET line there is still a T-1 on the ground.

The house is creaking with the drastic drop in temperatures over the weekend. My cat is pretty freaked out lol

Same here with the house creaking and popping. Got 2 cats, but they are not paying the noises any mind. haha

Be a great nite to be camping in the Boundary Waters...  sitting @ -33F right now in Ely...  Temp drop here is slowing some...-11.1F

Down to -23 just northeast of you at Black River Falls.  Hayward at -25.

Coldest of the season so far here has been -11.  Point was at -12, but has been bumped up to -10.  Don't think we'll quite beat the coldest temp of the season so far here.  Probably settle in the -7 to -10 range.  We have yet to get an optimal minimum setup for this area.  So far this season the best radiation cooling setups have sort of skipped over this area.

Down to -3.

Since we got below zero before midnight, and now with today starting out below zero this makes for our 8th subzero day for Dec.  Far cry from the last two winters.  2011-2012 featured only 2 days total that dropped below zero.  2012-2013 was the same with only 2 days below zero.  So in December we've already doubled the total subzero days combined between the last two winters,  We still have Jan and Feb to go.

Thats what I get for assuming. We picked up a light dusting of snow overnight (0.1") so the depth this morning is T. Hopefully onto bigger and better things in a few days :)

For those in Toronto, it looks like an inch of snow is likely tomorrow morning. What a nice way to end December and ring in the New Year.

I don't have the exact stats in front of me, but this will be the 2nd straight month of below normal temperatures at YYZ. Can January make it a 3rd? We'll find out next month.

November was the coldest since 1996 and December is on pace to being the coldest since 2000. December, once EC finalizes the observed data will wind up with near normal snowfall. Its been a great month. Still have a good 7-9cm on the ground. :D

Snowing pretty nicely now.  The last hour the snow was extremely light and not accumulating.  Could even see the blue through the thin high clouds as it snowed.  In the last few minutes the clouds became much thicker, and the snow has picked up quite a bit, with the pavement beginning to whiten up.
