Cracked a window open this morning...torching with some -RA. Landscape went from winter to spring overnight. Sad times, but obviously not unexpected. Still better to have received...

We'll do it again some day.

Always next winter! ;)

Yeah, actually turned off the furnace this morning.  Too damn warm in the house!

Feel like it's been forever since it's been warm...but it really hasn't. We had that torch in early December. Snowpack recently fooled me.

Well, here's to our green Christmas! :maprain:   :D

Thermal ridge is trying to bulge back in here a bit, but not really winning.  Have gone up to 28.  Still some bursts of freezing rain from time to time.

STL now up to 68.  Some pockets of sun downstate with those mid 60s.  With dews in the mid 50s it's gotta feel pretty springlike down there.

pretty respectable snowpack for Christmas.  The bottom of my fence is 18-19".  snow is getting deep.

Heading up this evening to play in the snow for two weeks. Looking forward to it and leaving all the ice and melting snow crap behind down here. Christmas in northern MI is the best, almost always white with snow to play in. Snow lovers that live south of West Branch n MI are all to use to the snow, rain/rinse repete cycle all winter long. Head north and enjoy all the white gold to get your snow fix. Happy holidays everyone!

Hit 34° here today, but that's it. Back to freezing rain currently. Most of the ice during the day was visible on trees and shrubs.

Ok. I made a map showing where the 6" storms have occurred so far. If anyone from Ontario knows that information on their side of the border, I will put it in.

Windsor got 9.6" with the Dec 14th storm that dropped 8.4" imby and 7.7" at DTW, but not sure how far east the 6"+ totals spanned.

We are now at 32 hours and counting above freezing, after being over 13 days below freezing. Still a full snowpack, but its down to a very very heavy 3" overall (several 4" spots).  The snow depth pre-warmup was 8". Really wishing for an ice storm tomorrow night so its not fully washed away but my hopes arent high. The many large snowbanks will remain and with all the water that will be added I suspect it may be a case similar to last March where they will be mountains of rock-hard ice.

CLE has not had a 6"+ snowstorm in 3 years. There have been several close calls around 5" but nothing officially over 6" on the west side of town where the airport is located.
