I have been sitting quietly by, reading every single post in the storm thread. I appreciate all of the model analysis. Due to my geographic location, I knew that I never really had a chance.

If anyone needs me, I'll be sandbagging over on Debbie Downer Blvd.

We're going to need some volunteers. Indiana part of the road may float away. :(

35 degrees with continued full sun.  Point had been around 30-32 for several days up until this morning, when it got bumped to 35.  Wasn't really anticipating the snow to start melting until tomorrow, but it's starting melt off roof tops and away from pavement edgings already.  It's been nice having fresh snow cover though in the weeks coming up to Christmas.

Last day of the beautiful full winter landscape here. It was nice while it lasted. Should start melting it down tomorrow, and completely gone by Thursday as temps approach 50º.

I know it sucks. It's probably been the best early run we've ever had here.    I've had about 48 hrs to let the reality of it sink in and accept it.    I just think of it as a re-boot.  When things fire back up around xmas guidance at least suggest sustained seasonal to slightly below for at least a week after xmas.    As far as snow chances, they'll come.   GFS kinda looks clipperish for the week between xmas and new years, maybe we can all cash in a little and start building that winter landscape all over.

Here's to a 78-esque January for the subforum

Well, the ol' Davis has measured 0.03" of precip so far.  First liquid precip it's reported in a few weeks.  This as the snow inside the rain gauge funnel has began to melt.

What?! You haven't invested in a heater for that? lol For the cost of one of those, I'll stick to my trusty 4" CoCoRahs gauge.

lol, I'm too cheap to heat the gauge.  I just accept that at times during the winter QPF amounts will be off.

Even though we only hit 35, we lost a good inch of snow today.  The snow cover came mainly from high ratio events, so it's not surprising that it may disappear a bit quicker than usual.

Haha! Still around. I don't peruse the New England, metro NYC pages anymore. Too stressful and venomous :) This year has been extraordinary. Reloading cold and snow ad nauseum:)

Nicky?!?!  I didn't know you were still around?   I figured you had become a snow snob after your move north.... :P

Thought you guys would appreciate 3-4 inches per hour rates I got on video on Sunday, along with some thunder-snow on video.

Here is the video of the snow chase. Huge fan of Frank Sinatra, hope you guys are to. Enjoy! ^_^

I caught the thunder snow twice, here is the separate video just for that. We also had some insane wind gusts when the band was drifting south at the tail end of it. Had to be over 40 MPH which caused some insane blowing and drifting.

well cool, you need to post more so us lowly 'southern flankers' can live vicariously thru you during these impending thaws.   Although not much to complain about down here, relatively speaking.   Just sucks going green at xmas when we've been white since thanksgiving.

Stellar morning. Snow looks beautiful in the sun and the 25°F feels very warm. Best thing is all my lots will be 100% asphalt as the sun comes up. Will be taking advantage of a few hours on the sled today. Been a great few days in the snow business, even with the big melt likely to arrive. More will fall before spring.

Shedding a layer this morning cleaning up some of the ice around the house from the melt....with the sun reflecting of the snow I had a few moments where it felt like late spring heat ...

upper 30's seems to be what the rest of the week will bring...possibly a 40?

on a bright note...the low ratio fluff is becoming better for building snowmen with the kids!

Sitting at freezing...nice day.  Washed the car because you couldn't tell the color from all the road salt (horrible this year).

I see a 70F popped up in western Nebraska this afternoon, with a few mid/upper 60Fs...  niiiice

Nice. Sunny here, but sitting at 27°, thanks to an inversion.

They are calling for you over in the storm thread. I think that the models are close to putting a target on your back.

36 here so far.  40s to near 50 not too far on the other side of the river.  Snowpack over southeast Iowa upwind is probably helping a little here.  Still a good 3-4" on the ground here.

We bumped up to 36F here too...  plenty of melting going on today, even with the low sun angle.  Nice to get a little breather from the cold.  Those 40Fs and 50Fs almost never seem to make it in here this time of year.  I guess that is good because it keeps the fruit trees nice and dormant.
