Max temp for the week doesn't reach higher than 38 now via my P & C

Never got any higher than 37° for Thursday here.

Long as there isn't much liquid, the snow pack will just compact, but not go away.

20°/-4° today.

I think Thursday is going to fog up with occasional light rain and drizzle, some concern that the warm front never makes it all the way through northern IL and parts of the area have an ice issue. If the temperatures only get to the 30s, it probably won't be one of those snow eating fogs.

Nice photos Josh.

Deep winter look here right now as well. The 1.5" of fluff from overnight added a nice touch.

Too bad I only have 2-3 days to enjoy it, but thems the breaks. Hopefully there's more wintry fun down the road.

I didn't add LAF in the temp listing from a few posts ago, but we're at 26.9º -5.8º thus far. 10 of the past 12 days have had a double digit negative departure.

Plenty more winter down the road. The Winter Solstace is Saturday :). Dont be 100% sure you will lose your snowpack yet though.

Eh, it's probably toast...but no biggie. We don't call here the tropics for nothing. The roads need thawing out anyway. Skating rink comes to mind.

But yes, the winter is young...very young right now. Good start, and hopefully more fun to follow for all.

Full sun here for the first time in what seems like ages.  Temp has already reached 30, which ties for the warmest since the 4th.  Looks like we finally break above the freezing mark.  The fresh 5-6" snowpack is gonna start to take a hit unfortunately, but that is the ebb and flow of the winter around these parts.

We've done pretty well thus far. Never seen this much, this early ( the 9 years we've been here)... IMG_20131217_083420.jpg

What's your depth, about a foot?

7.5" the last 2 days has kept up with the older snows settling rate. Still an average of 17" at my house.

The bottom 10-12" is becoming decently packed.
