Baroclinic Zone
C MA is a mess by the sounds of it. Kind of felt it would be as guidance warmed over the last couple days. Repeating theme thus far this early in the season. Messy systems with nothing able to lock in the cold. Me thinks this will be the theme for the winter and where that boundary sets up will make a world of difference. We were lucky in Nov to be able to cool off the SST around here so maybe we will be ok as we move towards mid month and beyond.

Tropopause_Fold
Bad here too near Lowell. Still 31.8 at work. the video of the back-up on 290 in ORH is pretty nasty. just hundreds of yards of fender benders and jackknifed 18-wheelers. Damage In Tolland
Who is to blame for the failure of warnings today? Some group or organization has to take responisbility for what happened. if warnings or advisories had been issued ahead of time..think of all the lives and accidents that could have been saved. powderfreak
You don't have to read them if you are bothered by factsThat wasn't the point...it was about why we all joke about CT roads, because you always seem to be posting about one issue or another regarding the dangerous road conditions or DPW issues. Don't you see the connection? We don't hear about weekly issues in Mass but we hear about a lot in CT.

Don't you see the connection? That has nothing to do with why folks joke about roads. it's the same in Ct as it is in Mass or VT..no difference. I just blab about it,,while others keep close to vest..I try to get warnings out so folks know Brad Guay @BradGuayWX52m Unreal video of the massive crash on I-290 near Worcester: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=10153569077600174 …
CapturedNature
yup. probably should have played conservative and pretreated roads even though this was a minor event. busy travel weekend. I think a lot of DOT's look the NWS for clues as to what they should do and while they were aware of a potential icing situation they probably didn't pretreat because an advisory wasn't issued. I would have thought that at the state level you'd have some coordination due to it being a high profile travel weekend but I guess that's not the case. People are too reactionary these days as opposed to being prepared. Bottom line is that it affected a wider area than just Tolland, CT and that affected drivers in many places had accidents so those types of accidents didn't just happen there.
