The_Global_Warmer
A new model forecast was posted online last January by the Met Office that showed the potential for the NW Atlantic SST's to drop. The scientists mentioned that they were not sure quite yet what to make of a pool of colder waters in that region. They speculated that it could be related to a change in AMO, but the AMO remained positive this year. While they didn't mention the NAO/AO, these indices rose in 2013 off the lows of 2012. In fact, this was the first positive summer NAO/AO since 2006. The cooler SST's were associated with the persistent low pressures in this region. Not raging positive. But October 2013 AMO value came in at 0.375. Which is the 3rd highest on record. Edging out 2012 which was at 0.371.
