JSchwake28
How the hell can anyone actually like this sort of sustained cold weather? I'm down in AC for the weekend for indoor racing and you step outside and the wind and cold sucks your breath out of you faster than you can even say damn it's cold out. This is gross, plain and simple. You can't Live wen it's like this outside. Walked to White House subs and could not feel my toes by the time I got back. This is, as I told someone earlier, stupid cold, with no signs of warming up. I agree with you that the cold can really stink, though I really don't mind it if there's snow. It's all relative though. I spent my last 2 winters living in Grand Forks, ND and this is a cake walk compared to them. Every time I think about complaining of the cold I think about -20 degree lows with highs below zero for months on end. There was a period last year when I don't think we broke 40 for like 120 some days in a row. So it could always be worse!
KamuSnow
I was outside earlier, and if you like winter, this is "the heart of winter" kind of weather. And as much as I do enjoy it, it will make spring when it rolls around even more enjoyable. I like having 4 seasons. Meanwhile, looking forward to a fresh coating today! RedSky
Humorous to see the GFS get joined by the ECM in showing torch and cutters long range exactly same time it happened last weekend. False signal again or MJO to back it up?

Seems likely we are overdue for a relaxation of the cold the question is for how long, 3-4 days or a week or more. Euro weeklies and most long range outlooks would argue it to be of short duration

I was reading in the NYC forum, and PB GFI mentioned that it was from the euro, and it was having trouble even with the mjo. Does the gfs have it going into phase 6 also? KamuSnow
wederwarrior and eastonwx, how about a snowpile report? Great week for snowpiles. I made a commitment today to put as much of the 2.2" on there as possible since it sounds like maybe some moderation at the end of the week, and it's a little unclear when the next shovelable snow will be. It's looking pretty good if I may say so (especially for handmade).

I know, this pile settled a few inches from Wednesday due to the "dryness" I suppose. The snow today was easy to move, used 2 push brooms side by side to clear part of the driveway. Wet snow, sounds like there may be some of that in our future.

I'll take it with a grain of salt at this point, but it sure is a nice looking forecast!
