I've got big wind, and  it's not coming from me.  Radar said the good stuff died out right at my door step. Fortunately I didn't stay up to not see it. I haven't had the +40's  in gusts yet, but I'm hoping.  At least it's the kind of Tday weather I always like, sans the drizzle, that would ice the cake.  Glad for those who saw the addictive white stuff!  This should be the first of many for us long suffering folks :)  Unless it's not, lol.

I had about an hour of snow and sleet this morning. Enough that when it was over we had a light coating of snow/sleet/graupel mix on the ground. It came down between 4-6 am. There are still a couple of pitiful sloppy piles of snow ice mix on the deck. This event is the most snow since January 2010 for me.

I'm feeling pretty good about my 11/22 first/last and only call for this event.

I will venture an opinion on the upcoming event. I am discussing the western piedmont east. The mountains are a totally different climate zone. We have separate forums for NY City and Philly, but down here Miami and Boone share a forum. We will not see significant snow. WAA will kill any attempt at a long period of snow at the onset. Toward end of the event the ULL has the potential to produce a period of snow but outside of exciting kids of all ages nothing significant.

As I see it, based on years alive and not much else, this is how it will evolve. There will be numerous excited reports of sleet, graupel and flakes as the precip begins. It will rather quickly settle in to a cold miserable rain. Some freezing rain is possible but it will not be the type that will cripple ground travel. The ground temps will still be too warm to freeze precip falling as liquid. It will be the old trees, power lines and elevated surfaces type of ice if any.

The NWS forecasts will probably contain the phrase, "possibly changing to snow before ending" to account for the ULL passing over, but again while possible, nothing significant.

Im kind of surprised no one in the Newnan, PTC area in GA posted anything this am. I sleep pretty late usually but was awakened by some decent sleet falling. It appeared to be mixed with some snow grains/pellets too. That went on for about 20 minutes at my place on the south side of PTC. Not exactly sure about the timing of it......went back to sleep for a while....but i think it was around 8am. Did not look at the temps, but we did have some of it sticking to leaves, grass and roofing.

Drove over to Newnan around 11 am, temps were in mid 30's with quite a bit of wind. Saw MANY areas with trace of sleet/pellet accumulations in forested, grassy, and protected areas from the wind. I estimate about 1/4 inch in spots. Obviously it did not hang around long as temps moved higher but it was there. Some cars had quite a bit of accumulation on roof and hood areas.
