Lava Rock
Some of you guys are colder than northern maine. Congrats
40/70 Benchmark
For you folks in the east. Out here it's been trending (slowly) upward. 18.1/3 Don't look now, two of the four Tolland stations are now over 20*. I hope Kevin can stay below 20.0 for his AWT. I think he refers to the Leela Way one as akin to his backyard which is 3* cooler than the Birch Drive one he said today is in a totally weenie spot of town. Yea, just starterd bump up here, as well.....looks like the air mass has advected in, entirely..
Typhoon Tip
Tell tale sign that we are undergoing intense cold air advection when the temp has continued downward as we approach mid day.... I'm pretty amazed by the ferocity of this... House has creaked a couple times when the jets fly over, and the DP at ORH is down to -1. 18 there last hour! I'm wondering what this might have been like if we had an antecedent snow pack. Record old anyway?
40/70 Benchmark
I just spent some time in the woods with the dog. She was extraordinarily energetic...a winter weenie amongst dogs for sure. Deep winter feel. Hiking through wooded areas hearing the wind roar through the trees walking on a deep carpet of fallen oak leaves. A magical time and I'm quite thankful at my stage in life I have the vigor to enjoy it. And don't forget... Long....live....winter!!
40/70 Benchmark
Your a degree cooler than every other Tolland station, and 3* cooler than the Birch one that was cooler than you this morning. In fact your the coolest temp in CT outside of East Hartland. Time to send your Davis in for a tune-up. j/k 18.5/3 at the Pit. lol
Snowstorms
Got down to about 8.6F here last night breaking the old record of 10.4F set back in 2005. We were close yesterday too, only 0.02F away from breaking the record set back in 2000, lol. Have a nice coating of snow on the ground here. CoastalWx
Stuck at 25.0. This goes to show you how if you know climo, you take the under on MOS. AWT.

CoastalWx
As we often say...."a 2m temp kind of day" Sure is. I love when we as humans can add a nice touch to a forecast in this day and age where automation is being introduced.
powderfreak
The body shock of this was just something I wasn't prepared for. Ambient temp is -1F with wind chills -20 to -30 while riding lift on upper mountain. It's 7F at the office with occasional rolling whiteouts as last nights dry 5-6" is now seeing significant wind transport. This is mid-January in essence. Clinch Leatherwood
Unbelievably impressive cold. 100-110mph gusts on the rock and -9. Nice! Stuck in the mid to upper 20s here at lunch in late November.

CoastalWx
Step outside this evening. Even analyzing 300 yr old Quahog shells from srn RI beaches won't give these conditions.

powderfreak
The obs are something else today... MPV is at 1 mile visibility in blowing snow, gusting 40-50mph, and wind chills around -10. Morrisville-Stowe ASOS has reported snow falling in every METAR since 6:39pm last night, so we are now on our 18th hour of snow (with only 4" to show, lol)...highest visibility today has been 4 miles -SN. Ginx snewx
What a fantastic day, geez went to the store and there was a burly man with two hoodies on, shorts and flip flops pumping gas. Just laughed. Lost a 4 inch diameter branch about 6 foot long fell in the driveway just missed the mail box, total dead wood. Temp 19 winds gusting in the upper 30 s. Great Windex stuff last night with mesolows up in NNE. Should be a helluva storm Wed, wind rain wise.
ORH_wxman
I actually think one of the most impressive obs right now is 27F at ACK at noontime on 11/24....that is ridiculous for them.
baltimoreguy
Totally self-serving question here - what time is the rain going to progress from mid-Atlantic into southern NE and then Boston? Driving up from Baltimore and trying to decide if I should leave at 8 p.m. Tuesday night, instead of waiting until 4:30 a.m. Wednesday as originally planned. Would love to avoid driving in torrential rain all day.
heavy_wx
22F currently at ALB. Our record low max is 24 today which we might exceed just slightly. Impressive cold either way.
