Kbosch
I remember in '93 I was living in Stamford. What a disappointment when the sleet moved in. I guess the same was true for '96. I'm so glad I've moved away from coastal influences. Even in ME it screwed me. Of course, I was still averaging 80"+ in spite of that screwing up there It happens a lot down here. I'll live with it if we can get this kind of snow. I am sure you know how it goes with that - I can't remember the last big event that did not sleet at least for a while. But this is so close to being perfection.
HIPPYVALLEY
Thank you, Ryan! As i stated earlier, the voice of reason for the Ct River Valley. (Much appreciated by this realist)
Wx4cast
Alas, it's over. How do the radio shows work? Do you need to dial in or do you listen on-line? I've tried linking but I never hear anything. SkiMRG loads the bong, I bring the Brodeur and then we tune in. ;-)
Typhoon Tip
Welcome to the web page of the NCEP Downscaled GFS by NAM Extension (DGEX) forecast. The DGEX is initialized by interpolating the 78-h operational NAM forecast to a smaller 12-km domain. A 78-h to 192-h forecast of the WRF-NMM is made (same version that is running in the NAM), using the previous 6-h old GFS forecast for lateral boundary conditions. Click here to see the computational domain of the DGEX runs over the CONUS and Alaska http://www.emc.ncep....l/dgexhome.ops/ I'd really like to have a discussion with the modeling department at NCEP and hear their thoughts/reasons for puting out that product. rivers
You didn't sleet in 96 I don't think. 93 I thought was an awesome storm. Had about 10" in Branford with sleet on top. It was pretty wild... especially with the wind. I was in branford in 93..the sleet was the size of small marbles

H2Otown_WX
And where I'm sitting right now. Thanks! Sorry, but it says you're in New Milford? I was just ragging on Danbury because I go to WCSU. It's not really that bad of a city..nicer than Bridgeport.

CT Rain
I was in branford in 93..the sleet was the size of small marbles I remember sleet being whipped by 50 mph wind gusts for hours and hours. That was wild.
Kbosch
water temps are in the 40's off L.I. so it would be hard not to mix for a bit at your locale. Exactly. 96 may have been the last clean large event. It always turns into a matter of how long we change, not if. Well, I grew up in New London. Our aspirations there were to get sleet instead of rain.. I hear that. Just a little shift and we're all in great shape here.
Clinch Leatherwood
GFS got rid of the s/w wrapping into the low over the lakes aloft...should be an uncluttered outcome on the 18z run. Energy is really held back, was clearly a model poop.
