For those who may have missed out yesterday:

THE BIGGEST CHANGE TO THE NEAR TERM WILL BE ACROSS THE EASTERN

ZONES...AS THE UPPER FLOW BACKS A LITTLE MORE TO THE SOUTH WITH A

SHORT WAVE ALOFT AND ASSOCIATED WEAK WAVE OF LOW PRESSURE RIDING

NWD ALONG THE EAST COAST. THIS WILL BRING A SEVERAL HOUR PERIOD

OF STEADY LIGHT TO MDT PRECIP ACROSS THE REGION NEAR...AND TO THE

EAST OF THE SUSQ MAINSTEM.

925 MB WET BULB TEMPS HAVE COOLED TO A FEW DEG C BELOW FRZ INVOF

KMDT AND LNS /WITH SFC TEMPS IN THE U30S/. PRECIP TYPE SHOULD FAVOR

WET SNOW...OR POSSIBLY A RAIN/WET SNOW MIX ACROSS THE REGION EAST OF

I-83. PAINTED IN A GENERAL COATING TO ONE INCH OF SNOW FOR THE SUSQ

REGION AND PTS EAST /THAT WILL ACCUM MAINLY ON GRASSY SFCS/ THIS

AFTERNOON INTO EARLY THIS EVENING. THE HIGHER TERRAIN...ESP ACROSS

SCHUYLKILL CTY COULD SEE ANOTHER 2 OR 3 INCHES INCHES OF SLUSHY SNOW

BY 7 PM THIS EVENING AS PERIODS OF MDT SNOW ACCOMPANY A RIBBON OF

ENHANCED 850-700 MB FGEN BENEATH THE SLIGHTLY STRENGTHENING RIGHT

ENTRANCE REGION OF THE STRONG 140-150 KT 300 HPA JET JUST INLAND

FROM THE ATL COAST.

30.9 here, pretty icy outside.

Looking ahead, been watching the 11-15 Euro ensemble talk over on PhillyWx, and it's like a tennis match. back and forth between warm and cold, currently a very cold look. There is also talk of an overrunning type pattern setting up.

Sounds interesting, if you are on the right side of the fence an overrunning pattern can be nice since you aren't necessairly looking for a perfect storm track. I've noticed on the GFS one run looks near average to slightly above in the LR then the next looks pretty cold.

Off Topic, but why do we seem to get these little wx forums that splinter off of American? Makes it harder to follow \ get input from all the Mets in different areas.

Yeah, think that's our next storm. Not sure how much we get.

Seems like snow area is growing again on radar.

Hopefully it stays white or stays away since that's around the first couple days of deer season. Already not sure what it's gonna look like up on Tussey Mountain after this ice storm haha.

On this date in Pennsylvania Weather History...

The "Great Appalachian Wind Storm" produced record snowfalls in Western Pennsylvania and hurricane force winds in the Eastern part of the state. A three-day snowfall total of 27.4 inches occurred in Pittsburgh, and 28.4 inches in Erie. Wind gusts of 76 MPH occurred in Stroudsburg, and 88 MPH in Allentown. (Nov 24-27, 1950)

It's funny how things work sometimes, getting last night's ice on the anniversary of that event. Altoona was unfortunate enough to have an ice storm for that one also, and it was likely one of the worst weather events in the city's history. Below zero temps followed the storm as well. Pretty sure I posted this in a thread a year or two ago for the anniversary but here's the article for it.
