No power all night, cold house. This really sucks.

:(  Awful.  Lost power for a little while overnight in Bellefonte, but most of the ice has melted off in town.  At the office just south of town and 200' higher, still hanging on and there was an additional coating of snow this morning.

No. Atleast in our local newspaper they said our town and anothwr town were the only widespread problems.

well hopefully they can get you up pretty quickly this morning then.

it amazes me when i hear people say they'd like to lose power (for whatever reason). i wouldn't wish that on anyone.

I was spoiled growing up having relatives in Garrett County MD and the bordering counties of WV (Grant & Tucker)  I have an uncle who lives in Bayard, WV which set the WV annual snowfall record back in 09-10. I was always fascinated how fast the weather changed up there coming from Cumberland MD then getting to the ridges above 3kft+.  That's what got me into the weather to begin with.

On this date in Pennsylvania Weather History...
The "Great Appalachian Wind Storm" produced record snowfalls in Western Pennsylvania and hurricane force winds in the Eastern part of the state. A three-day snowfall total of 27.4 inches occurred in Pittsburgh, and 28.4 inches in Erie. Wind gusts of 76 MPH occurred in Stroudsburg, and 88 MPH in Allentown. (Nov 24-27, 1950)

Given what you're saying, sounds like the ice may hold on down in State College and other higher-elevation locations for a while.  I'm not sure how thick the glaze is there, if there's any, but that may not be good if the wind kicks up at all in the next day or two.

Much of the ice has melted here, so things aren't nearly as bad as they were last night.
