Arctic front and some rain showers changing to snow showers

just hoping if the flash freeze is possible DPW is aware. 12-18 in the VT MTS last night, pretty sweet.

That's awesome--I wasn't aware of that.

Looked like a lot of the CT/NJ/NY folks were prepping their Mt. Snow area homes.  Traffic backed up on Colrain Shelburne RD--80% with out-of-state plates.  Sure sign of winter.

I definitely could see a little second area of QPF down near the south coast like Kevin alluded to. Just has that look, but decent lift through a moist column over the whole area pretty much. I don't think this is a >1" deal for most though.

I'd watch for a sneaky inch or so around Foxborough tomorrow morning...SE MA with a little elevation.

Looks like any snow ends around 9AM.

It might hold on in far SE MA until lunchtime. A weak low pressure forms along the frontal boundary as it gets near the coast and it will try and slow down the eastward progression of the back edge.

Cmc keeps it snowing in Boston till noonish and beyond SE.

Yeah ti kind of blew up the band as it exits stage right...that would prob give some areas 1-2"....but I think its a little too bullish.

Regardless, it should be fun to track this little event. The brutal cold (albeit brief) behind it will be a real taste of late December climo too.

Nice, some light snow wil

Like Will and Ryan said, it may not come together for all areas, but it has a sneaky look to it where people probably throw the mets under the bus because of some sort of high impact of icy roads (esp elevated interior).  "They never mentioned this..." could be something thrown around. But, this forum did.

Time to reintroduce the Traveler's Advisory???

You wonder if road crews are prepared or have any idea . There's gonna be a ton of accidents tomorrow. Usually you see them out pretreat Ing the roads, but nada today

The timing is definitely right for a surprise and potential mess at rush hour tomorrow AM, although ground temps are still warm this time of year...

The cold is definitely impressive. Tue night is going to be like a typical winter night when combo of temps/wind is considered

We haven't had any measurable snow yet at KBTV despite what the mountains have. For tonight model soundings consistently indicate about a 1 to 2 hour window for snow behind the front here (Most beginning around 11pm). This is is a narrow window and it will be tough to get in a measurable here before it closes. After that of course we have to wait through the coming warm up. I wish it was a daylight event so I could go to some higher terrain for some squalls.

What do u mean, u think it is gonna slow any accums , or more u mean it will melt snow later that is able to coat ground

I just think the relatively warm soil temps will melt a lot of the snow that does accumulate.  I don't think the snow will have any problem accumulating unless we have a period of rain 1st that moistens up the grass/roads.

Tomorrow's going to be a fun morning here.

Yeah if the guidance is correct, it should be a wintry morning. Watching steady snow fall (even if light) is always one of the more exciting parts of the early season...that first time where you see more than just a flurry or few mangled flakes.

So far, it appears the system is behaving itself off to the west.

I scanned back and didn't see any mention.  Also, I tried google and was right away successful at finding, but this bares some resemblance to the fabled grid-lock morning of Dec, 2003, when an arctic boundary and attending snow squalls dropped a half inch, which immediately melted, then within moments sheen-ed over, sending cars careening.

Not sure the profiles are the same, but the general gist of having a sharp boundary and crashing temp/thickness reminds me of that.
