Personally I believe we should merge the forums but we should also still have separate 'storm observations' threads for specific areas within the merged forums during specific threats so that it's easier for our NWS crews to find real-time information related to their areas instead of having to search through pages upon pages of obs that has nothing to do with their areas. For example, 'NWS-Mt. Holly/Philly observations only' and 'NWS-NYC/Upton observations only'.

The reason why it's mostly Yes votes over there and not here... is because of the more 'reserved' crowd in the philly area.  They like things nice and quiet..

But I voted yes, since during big storms...it's much more convenient to check 1 section for the whole tri-state area..instead of flippin back and forth.

Even though some might have a hissy fit, I think it's the right thing to do to merge the 2.

Personally, if the two forums are combined I will leave AMWX for the other forum.

What you don't find post like "Dry is the new norm" and "read more, post less" insightful? I'd rather have 10 meaningful post over 400 post with 350 of it being useless.

Same here to the bold.

You have 29 post in 3 years....maybe you should post more.

Sorry! I use this board as an educational tool and I really enjoy  and appreciate it. I am a total rank amature at this and do not feel that I know enough to make a meaningful contribution. I will leave that to the experts.

Just curious if there was a way to validate the survey by determining who were "Philly Forum" contributors vs. Other -- if it was meant for everyone fine... If the poll was meant for Philly/Mt Holly NWS folks and now the yes vote is being influenced... The first few days the poll was out - it was extremely lopsided toward No, anyway FWIW the only way I might make make future donations to the site would be 1) Philly thread stays or 2) Regional threads in NYC forum - if there is a merge... Thinking the damage is done for my imo all around anyway.... Not the same in any forum

Actually, the first few days it was pretty close, then it took off in the "no" direction.  I don't think weeding anyone out is necessary; such a merge would theoretically affect the entire forum, though the Philly sub-forum obviously would be affected most which is why the poll is here.

I don't think the AmWx wants donations anymore, they have their model service which is apparently paying the bills.  Could be wrong about that, but I would find it funny to see a push for donations when they have a pay service.

I'm sure there would be a Philly thread in the combined forum, they already have such a thread for the Hudson Valley.

ILG's weather is way closer to BWI than NYC.  I always toggle between the PHL and Mid-Atlantic sub-forums.  PHL just got way too over moderated and clicky.  People got harrassed in banter threads even for actual banter during storms.

Once again, nobody "harassed" you. People called you out because you're a terrible poster.

Seems to me the Philly forum followers are very much "snow only" posters. The other regions seem to have more non-winter posts. T-storms, high winds, heavy rain, drought, wildfire activity get little activity on the Philly. (Hurricanes are an exception - but as all know they are pretty rare around here.)  I wish more would get involved in the the - non winter events. I hope Philly stays separate from NY and picks up year round.

Will Adam still be moderating the 2014 Atlantic Hurricane season thread, that will start in less than six months?

Adam is no longer a moderator.  In fact, he no longer appears to even post here since the new board came on-line.  His last post was October 31st.

Oh dear.  I noticed Philly Wx has a tropical forum.  I may have to lurk there.  Might even register because it appears lurkers see URLs, not images...

Seriously?

Well, that's what it said...  quote:

"We are also tweaking and reimaging the look of our social media spaces, effective Sunday. If you visit Phillyweather.net, you get redirected to Phillywx.com, which is a message board set up by a meteorologist and a weather enthusiast that are local to the area. The site provides really good weather discussion and we will link to event-specific discussion via Phillyweather.net's social media presence online.  The best part is that the said discussion is relatively low-hype and higher-brow, which is why working with them was a natural fit when I decided to change gears with the site's approach."

Though apparently it hasn't happened just yet.
