Hope your first winter in Michigan is a good one! You will find that you will see snow way way more frequently than the east coast but unfortunately no noreasters. Our big storms are more 6-12" than 12-24" but hopefully this winter we will get a doozy.

Thanks! I'm looking forward to it.

Anyway, still not sticking to sidewalks/pavement here. Coating on just about everything else. 32F

I'm here in valparaiso, Indiana tonight. Light snow continuing to fall here, but lake effect snow early tomorrow morning is what has me excited. Check out the lake superior connection the hrrr is showing. That will supercede any worry about dry air aloft and there should be a heck of a single band here on southern lake Michigan.

Here in valpo we may be on the western end of the activity, but any meso low development (which are commonly seen in these single band events) will knock the band westward and give us a burst of snow.

Don't think anyone will get a ton of snow due to the likely transient nature of the band. But a widespread swath of 5-8 inches from valpo to south bend looks increasingly likely.

At a hotel?  Cancel for tonight and stay in LaPorte, haha.

Finished with 1.0" of snow here.

Most snow through Nov. 11th since I started keeping records in early '07.

Yeah this is the most snow I've recorded up to this date since I've kept records starting in 1998!

The roads are not slick in general, but in places where leaves fell on the road, it is slick. Saw one driver that gunned it over one of those spots and almost ended up on the median.

Saw more than a few salt trucks.

At school here in Livonia we've got a nice coating of snow on everything, first I've seen here in Metro Detroit this season. Not sure how it's stuck back at my home in the city, but a nice early start to winter here already.

No more flakes falling now, but for a while there it was snowing at a real nice clip.

The HRRR now has 3-5" for Valpo falling between 11z and 13z, with snow (theoretically) continuing past 13z.  Not at all what I would expect given winds should becoming more westerly with time, but whatever.

What's your temp down to - given the wind off the water?

About an inch on the ground here so far. Came out of the gym to it, and to be honest I was shocked. Did not expect this at all... Pleasantly surprised.

* HAZARDS...SNOW.

* ACCUMULATIONS...3 TO 5 INCHES...MAINLY ACROSS HIGHER TERRAIN.

* TEMPERATURES DROPPING INTO THE LOWER TO MID 20S.

* IMPACTS...SNOW WILL RESULT IN SLICK ROADS...ESPECIALLY ACROSS

HIGHER TERRAIN SUCH AS THE CHAUTAUQUA RIDGE AND BOSTON HILLS.

LOWERING TEMPERATURES LATER TONIGHT MAY FREEZE SLUSH ON ANY

UNTREATED ROADWAYS.
