Chicago Storm
Is it any other feature though? It's heading towards Michigan City it seems. It's just banding within the developing/widening LES plume.
Thunder Road
We just launched a balloon. While it was still visible, it was deflecting to the west a bit as it rose. Coming in and looking at what the sonde was reporting, we had winds around 350 deg at ~900 mb, then around 5 deg at ~850 mb. I will try to share the sounding when it's complete. Thunder Road
In other news, the HRRR stopped running. I guess someone at ESRL decided it was bogus and to not encourage the weenies too much.
Geos
In other news, the HRRR stopped running. I guess someone at ESRL decided it was bogus and to not encourage the weenies too much. Doh! At least the 1z run was favoring a couple spots. One of them being by Portage. Nice report Brewers. I think that's the highest report I heard of closest to the lake in WI. Brewers
Some light lake effect showers trying to brush the shore here, MKE reporting -SN.
Thunder Road
3z HRRR came in. Decent shift east. Porter still gets ~0.1-0.25, but the max is back to LaPorte. (10-12" with its snow algorithm!) Really though this falls in line with what other meso models have been saying and what I think we're all observing. Geos
Some light lake effect showers trying to brush the shore here, MKE reporting -SN. Glad you mentioned something... I was only focused on the LES on the other side of the lake, haha. Edit: Flurries falling here.

Thunder Road
4z HRRR is in, and back to the solution from earlier this evening. 0.5"+ liquid for essentially all of Porter. 6-8" for much of the county, 8-10" right overhead.
Geos
LOT should put Porter County in a warning to cover that possibility of 6-10". Advisory could be warranted for Lake County as well. Flurry activity increasing a bit here.

Advisory could be warranted for Lake County as well. Flurry activity increasing a bit here. If they believed the HRRR, then yes. But let's see. I'm sure they're watching it, and they'll pull the trigger if they feel they're confident enough.

Thunder Road
Meh. Bust for most of Porter. Oh well, it's only November. Now to give the schools the all-clear, and finally go to bed!
KeenerWx
Looks like some very light lake effect is making it to the northwest side of LAF. Persistent -SN here for the past couple of hours. Won't amount to much.

extremewx52
Just drove through lake effect band. Rocking 2"/hr plus rates in the core. Visibility was about 250 yards. 5 different cars off the road. Measured around 7 inches in Kingsford heights at 730 est. Probably another inch by now. Will have pics and video up later. RogueWaves
Here at work in St. Joseph literally across the street from the big lake. Visibilty @ not more than 1/8 mile, hvy snow/sleet mix continuing, latest official report an hour ago had us at 9" but could be in double digits already. My vantage point on the second floor is hard for estimating totals on the street level. Sorry, no camera options for me at work office, but it is a serious pounding for literally the 1st flakes event of the season right here along the shoreline. Could use one of these: Happy winter season all!
extremewx52
Here is a picture in Kingsford Heights at 7:30 am EST where I took the 7 inch measurement earlier. Visibility 250-300 yds. Huge snowflakes. Here is a picture as I exited the eastern side of the band. Snow was still falling, but the sunrise could be seen underneath the cloud shield. This was taken about 7:35 am EST.
