Have any of you watched TWC since they upgraded/changed their graphics and format? Just wondering what you thought.

I just got a chance to see the graphics/local on the 8s tonight. I have not had the chance to evaluate the programming. At first glance, and admittedly a short glance, I'm not too impressed. The 7 day forecast presentation was given with music in the background and presented at a weird angle. And the base map of the US was white, which seemed an odd choice.

The local on the 8s graphics seemed somewhat odd as well. It's like they almost wanted to go old school, but they couldn't quite commit to it. I like the circular temp graphics ok but I'm not sure about the 7 day forecast graphics yet.

The constant weather "crawler" is ok. Anyway, I need to watch it more and give it a fair shake and evaluate the content and presentation. But at first glance, I'm not blown away. With today's graphical technology, I would have expected a bit more.

Thoughts?

Well now I'm curious.  I don't have cable so if anyone has a video link I'd appreciate being able to take a gander.

Thanks guys. I guess I missed the previous discussion about it. I have been in DC since Saturday (got back home last night) and missed the snow too. :( I've only been following a few threads on a limited basis. But I'm back now, baby! And what happened to that November torch? Pushed back again, I guess. :)

Not that I have much faith at all in medium/long range forecasting, be it human or computer model, but I would be more optimistic about December if Don Sutherland wasn't seeing warm in the tarot cards.  One thing I've learned over the past several years; it is not wise to bet against Don on next month's weather.

I agree, Don is VERY good, but I will also say there are so many conflicting signals.  I think Don is primarily talking about a + AO November and how that typically affects Dec weather and also the MJO (which can be helpful, but can also be schizophrenic too.

I am really liking the cold air that appears to be on our side of the globe for once and seeing a different presentation in the Pacific is also very encouraging.  I am hopeful for a good winter this year, time will tell.

I also agree (Don knows what he's talking about), but if he truly had a handle on all the factors he (or anybody) would be a very rich person now. I really think one month out is all we can attempt to "predict" with the current technology and knowledge. So I say let’s focus on where the indices are currently heading.

Which is looking much better:

Lol it's been a torch here. +3 departure for November so far. Yesterday it was +5. Last November we had -3 departure for the whole month.

Well yeah. It always torches in Waycross. That's a given. Last year was definitely a fluke. :)

On another note, DT has announced that his winter forecast will be released midday tomorrow, which means it will show up on Sunday evening.

Kinda wish it would stay a little on the warmer side right now so December would hopefully have the cold with some moisture to give us some nice winter storms. :snowing:

Why would warm weather now make December cold and stormy? I wouldn't worry too much about that, brother. Besides, it's gonna be warm this weekend, so maybe that'll help. :)

Anybody been having issues with Mozilla Firefox lately? Not sure the whole version of it.... but it says FF Stub 25.

But I recently downloaded it and been having it freeze up and not respond. Also since I dl it been alot of script error messages on FB aswell.

But I thought a couple times it was going to crash my computer. Not sure about if it has something to do with the Add-ons too. A couple of my AV softwares have stopped some trojans and worms caused by it. But I unstalled FF altogether and went with Google Chrome now those problems I had stopped.

Wonder if it could be glitches or bugs in the FF software?

I don't think this is possible if they can't even get the weather right the next couple of days. :axe:
