CapturedNature
It is probably more here. Looking to get some. Let me know what prices you find for cord out there. Maybe I could do firewood arbitrage and buy low here and sell high there. Then again, moving firewood is a bad idea. When Mass. discovered the Asian Longhorn Beetle, CT past a law requiring a permit to move firewood into the state to stem the tide. That would be bad news for the maple syrup industry! Look for radius cracks in the end of the wood or bang two pieces together. You want a nice percussive sound not a dull thud.

HIPPYVALLEY
What about wet, white pine oozing with sap? NBD if you throw it on a raging fire. My comment to Scott was more about fireplace vs wood stove. A wood stove is more forgiving for wood that isn't fully seasoned. Fireplace can mean a lil' more smoke in the house if the wood is a smolderin'. Unless wet, white pine oozing with sap is a veiled reference to something else...? I have seen a lot of house fires over the years from creosote, why take the chance. There is enough dead wood around.

Moderate amounts of dry pine mixed into a hot fire is fine. Go ask any seasoned chimney sweep. All wood causes creosote build up if it is not seasoned or is burned too cool. Your stove top thermometer really shouldn't be going below 300F. Stainless steel flue liner and regular cleaning are what prevent chimney fires.
