I have a hard time calling it a sport when you deliberately travel to an place for the sole purpose of seeing death and destruction to "get your thrills" and then leaving the next day without bringing supplies or staying to help. I get the whole thrill aspect and I'm glad that the chasers are all fine but there was so much more that they could have done without making it a one way street. Yes death and destruction goes with chasing but so also does helping out.

I am not sure that those guys expected quite the outcome

In the past, they have chased in some pretty remote places with few people.

I am sure CNN brought supplies and stayed to help out. Dude they saved some lives, not sure what you are getting at but I am not going to get into a morality debate. They documented history and now their documentation is publizing the fate of these people. Huge intrinsic value in that alone.

They looked to have floated a few people around on mattresses over to the stairs then up to the second level.  There's nothing that says other's would have helped those people or if they would have died or not without the help of Josh and co.

I assume they did things when not filming

They documented something, collected (hopefully) some data, helped some people, did not get in the way...

I think Kevin was having a little fun with you. You know he eats up the attention....I can't see him getting worked up with a little trolling.  This place has actually been pretty good in terms of keeping banter where it should be so good job with you and everyone else.

Scott is so soft and cuddly and just wants everyone to get along.

:)

You might want to listen to the interview on the front page. Casually dismissing what they did is incorrect . One of the people with them also was cut badly while they were saving a family which was not filmed. Also several Philipinos expressed thanks for them saving them, not to mention all the people they encountered who they warned that the storm was not your typical Philipino typhoon. Let's not pretend that they did not ignore their own safety to help folks escape death.

I'm not looking for a debate - just that I can't call it a sport.  Reporters typically document and stay around and help communicate needs to intra-government agencies.  I'm glad they got what they wanted out of it and were able to help as they saw fit.  To each his own what they feel that is.

thrill seeking is a sport, any weather chaser is looking for an adrenaline rush just like extreme sports folks do

I watched it, but I also know that Josh makes it very clear that he is there for the thrill first, and science a distant second.  The video footage they gave us is awesome but it's not as if they were looking for people to save.  It was people who were in their path (or where they were staying).  They left the area pretty quick.  I am not saying that it's wrong or right but they shouldn't be made out to be anything more than storm chasers looking for the thrill who happened to stumble into people in need.

Never did say anything else but, thrill seeker he is. But your post made it seem like it was a put on,

I have not touched one leaf yet. (what a mess) Doctor suggested I not move for 3 weeks. Frustrated because in past years not one leaf would be on the ground and bulbs would be set already. Anybody work in a hardware store or able to get discount on snow-blowers?

For the first time in 25 years I'm able to walk pain-free. Oh joy!
