But I also know when to pull backhe knows the danger but also knew that being in a concrete hotel with 4 floors gave him protection. It's a dangerous sport. That was really playing with fire Oh yeah, definitely. I mean, putting yourself in the path of something producing 200mph winds is only something a weather addict would do. I don't know if he's married or has kids or whatnot, but has to be stressful for his family though when you have a loved one actively seeking those conditions. Because he has stated many times he doesn't like children..and posted today in the main thread that he isn't good with them. I wasn't talking about what you are refering to. SlantStickers Anonymous
Watts and company are pretty dumb to downplay it. Oh my god I know, you've got people saying agw is solely responsible for a typhoon getting that strong and then you have the opposite end of the spectrum saying no big deal, just another overhyped average cyclone annihilating population centers. Can storms just be, y'know, be studied without political infusion? Totally takes meteorology to the tool shed.

Ginx snewx
I definitely look forward to seeing/reading his whole tale Quite the ballsy move by those guys.that interview is great insight into his thoughts. When we had dinner in PVD at the conference we discussed all the social aspects as well as the putting your self in harms way stuff. One thing and he says that on the interview locals are always happy to have someone recording the history and welcome him with open arms. Probably the apex of a chasing career right there. Baroclinic Zone
lol. Time to call the sensitivity police. That's me. Just trying to help Kevin out. He has indicated he was unhappy with people trolling him so I thought I'd point out an example of it for everyone to see. Guess I struck a nerve and you all don't mind like the rules around here so carry on. I'll just ignore all the trolling/ribbbing and whatever else. My bad. powderfreak
probably about as stressful when your girl is home while you are jumping 30 ft ice cliffs, catch my drift? lol, I wouldn't put skiing in New England on quite the same page as traveling to under-developed countries to be in the eyewall of massive hurricanes. My life on skis isn't quite that exciting, haha.

CapturedNature
extreme sports are all inherently dangerous I have a hard time calling it a sport when you deliberately travel to an place for the sole purpose of seeing death and destruction to "get your thrills" and then leaving the next day without bringing supplies or staying to help. I get the whole thrill aspect and I'm glad that the chasers are all fine but there was so much more that they could have done without making it a one way street. Yes death and destruction goes with chasing but so also does helping out.
